Just curious, how much gas does the dealer typically put in the car? Full? 30 miles into the trip home and the top bar of the fuel indicator is already gone. The car had 1mile on the ODO when I picked it up and I believe they filled it up after my 15 mile test drive. (didn't notice the gas level during the test drive)...

Mine was full. Always tickles me when I see promoted on the sticker "6 gallons of gas". Or on some "Full tank".
I know over time and volume it adds up to a manufacturer and possibly a dealer. But a fillup for the Prius --- what $20 --- for a $22K-34K car.... peanuts. And they SHOULD deliever the car full-up. Considering the profit the dealer/Region makes on options etc. It's built into the price anyway - nothing is free.

Well, I can't be sure about the actual level... but as we were driving the car off the lot to take it home the dealer said, 'hey wait, I forgot to fill it up'. He then drove it off for 10 mins or so where he took it to the closest gas station and filled it. I didn't see him fill it but the gauge had all bars full.

Mine came with a full tank.

The Monroney sticker says "full tank of gas" in the standard equipment section, so that's what you should be getting.

FWIW, every car I've purchased came with a full tank, even though it never said that on the Monroney.

Full tank here. The dealer has a pump on their lot that the salesman filled it from.

Thanks! My appeared to be full as well, but just didn't expect the first bar to disappear this quickly. My gen2 Prius seemed to have a longer range before it started knocking off the bars. :D

My dealer filled it too. It was very full and went a long time for the first "bar" to go out. I found a document left in the car from the port. A check list of things to prepare the car to ship showed 4 gallons being put into the tank then. Dealer then has only 8 gallons at most to fill.

I personally don't believe they filled it up all the way (just enough to make the gauge show full) as you should probably go many more miles before the first pip disappears but, hey, in the end we are talking about 2 dollars worth of gas so go enjoy your new ride!

Don't worry about it. My first bar disappeared in 9 miles from the dealer fill. When I filled the next tank the first bar didn't disappear until 150 miles. I'm on my third tank now. 100 miles in and still have all ten bars.

Drove mine 112 miles before the top pip went away. Still, I think it might have been 7/8th full. And I'm still on that first tank 4 weeks later with only 320 miles on the car.

Mine was full as specified on the window sticker in the standard equipment section but I know they filled it with crappy E10 instead of 100% ethanol free.

    Agreed!

My invoice actual states '£10 of fuel', which will be just under 10 litres of fuel. :(

So I can guarantee my trade-in will roll onto the dealers forecourt with the low fuel light on!

My salesperson was too busy to have it filled up, so she gave me the slip for a free fill up and I took it to the gas station myself. Got a full tank and he REALLY topped it off!

Do you even have a choice? Seems like every gas station around DC metro area is 10% ethanol...

My Prius had a full tank when I received it.

By the way, topping the tank off may not be a good idea because doing so can result in your paying for gasoline that is fed back into the station's tanks due to your tank being full. Also polluting vapors may escape into the atmosphere when topping off occurs.
