How much is the battery core worth?

    My first generation Prius's hybrid battery died recently. My car has 179,000 miles on it when this happened. The body is not in the best shape so I will not be replacing the battery. My question is I heard that the core batteries are worth some money. How does one go about selling the core and how do I get it out of the car? I loved my Prius, and I am trying to save up to get another one.

    Are you simply going to part out the car in general, or what's the plan?

    My teenage son is looking for a project car and probably wouldn't mind a bunch of rust. This is Wisconsin after all. :)

    Generally you would end up selling the pack locally since it will cost you a hundred-something dollars to ship it.
    Removing it will make the car inoperable.

    I might buy it but it's a 3 hour drive for me to pick it up.
