I was talking with Husky's customer service and they told me that they do not use the factory retaining system for the driver side, to avoid creating holes for water to leak down to. They told me because of the custom molding and the ribs on the back the driver side mat won't move. To those who have them in a Prius, can you confirm that they are secured? Thanks.
They are not secured by the floor mat hooks. Some posters say that they slide around others say they stay put well. I havent had any problems with my Husky mats moving around. I think they are great mats.
Mine do not move at all.....They do not secure with hooks but they do have these sharp pointy teeth on the bottom side and seem to stick well to the carpet lining the car floor.
Has your car been back to Toyota for service? Did they say anything when they "inspected" the driver side mat fastener?
No no service yet as my car only has 4000 km on it...not for a couple more months....they can say all they want, I like those liners a million times more than the Toyota ones.
Have had Huskies going on 10 years in our 2003 CR-V, 2 years in our 2010 Pu-ri-u-su, all are titless (i.e., sans "sharp pointy teeth," as I clipped them off with a pair of dikes-diagonal cutters--long, boring winters here in Maine . Never had a problem with any of them, and they don't leak! 'Love 'em! Personally, I think that accelerator sticky/jamie thing is totally bogus. P.S. Jonny Zero: a hook and a hole, "factory retaining system?" P.P.S. Clipped-off the "sharp pointy teeth" after trying to lift out the driver's side mat in order to dump the accumulated slush, snow, and water. When cold, those little tips are like icepicks! I was literally bleeding!
I've installed them in mine since day one and these are the updated version for the 2012 Prius. They do move over time, maybe up to 1/2 an inch at the most. Like others have stated, they don't really move because they have points at the bottom and slots to fit over the OEM hooks but they do end up sliding forward over time as you are pushing on the mat getting in and out and I tend to move my feet quite a bit while driving. So no, they don't just move but yes over time you'll notice that they might move up about 1/2 inch or so but not enough that you'll notice.
theyre fine for me. like eseymour said, they move about a 1in every once in a while. i dont think its worth an extra $100 to buy weathertechs.
I have 2 Prii in my family. One with Weather Tech floor liners and one With Huskey liners. The Husky are far superior to the Weather Tech. The Weather Tech leak through the holes on the bottom where the secure tabs are located and are not that easy to remove. The Huskey doesn't use them and the mats don't leak nor move. They are also very easy to remove and clean. Save alot of money and get the Huskey.
mine slide about an inch or so forward and back but that's from getting in and out. they have rather sharp spkies on the bottom and stay put when you have your feet on them.

I've tried putting them on top of my carpeted floor mats and on the "bare" carpet floor. No difference. I'm leery of cutting holes to use the floor anchors as that will just be a drain for the water. I think I'm going to try and cut holes in the vertical part of the rear lip and zip tie them to the seat anchors.
Good Lord! Sure am glad I don't live up North. I am still running the carpeted mats that came with the car. I am leaning towards WT. Since we don't get snow here often (a thin layer if it does), leaking down the holes is a non-issue and they sure look better. I have a Husky cargo liner right now.
Believe me, they don't look like that all winter, I try to clean them and vacuum frequently but they can get that way quickly when we have a few straight days of storms. But it's a great illustration of them not doing the job I bought them specifically to do.
I can confirm the company is full of shit. I have to move mine back into position every time I get back in the car, and it's a lot more than they started slipping. What started as an inch or so is now more than Five or more.
I've had the weatherbeaters for about a week or two. I bought the front and second row and then I bought a weathertech cargo mat. Let me know if you want to meet up to check them out. Obviously we dont get snow (maybe once every 5 years) and it doesnt rain much here in Central Texas, so I have yet to really test them out. I'm still undecided if I like them. Feeling the thickness of the Husky and the Weathertech, I preferred the Weathertech. But I thought I'd give the Husky mats a try.
I have Husky liner on my 2011 Prius 3. I was looking at the WeatherTech but saw a few complaints on this forum, so I gave Husky a try. It has been worked wonderfully. It is secured. For myself, I remove the carpet before installing the floorliner.
