SiennaClub.org is reporting a base MSRP for the Hybrid Camry at $25,900. If you look at the list of standard features on Toyota's website, this is a loaded car. A pretty good value, IMHO.

Wow. I consider this good news. I was afraid they'd peg a low-end model at $30K or more. I think this will undoubtedly get more people into hybrids---and probably into Camrys at the expense of the Prius, without question (those who are less "MPG freaks" than some of us). But---as Stuart Little says---"and that's OK!".

Kewl. The more mainstream hybrids get the better. I just hope that it doesn't cause a huge "why am I not getting the EPA mileage" bitch fest. That would be severly annoying.

Any guesstimates what the Federal credit will be, assuming June '06 delivery? I know it gets the full $1,500 Oregon credit, while the Accord hybrid does not qualify for the OR rules!

Are we sure that is the real MSRP?

My uncle put in a deposit for one. His dealer told him the MSRP is going to be around $27k.

I hope Camry succeeds. I really want this 4-cylinder hybrid setup in a Rav4.

I believe that the $25900 figure is for the vehicle before Dest/Handling (~$600) plus a small convenience package.

I saw that there are 4 key options which when added bring it up to just over $30000 if the buyer wants.

Great, great news and great options for a wide variety of buyers.

Hopefully they don't overpackage it to death. I hope they make one available with no option packages. On Toyota's website the only packages I'm seeing are Moonroof Package, Leather Package and a Heated Seat Package (Requires Leather) and heated outside mirrors. I don't want any of those packages, have a sunroof now and never use it, I'd rather not pay for it. It's fully loaded as it is if you look at the Flash Camry Hybrid Site which is where I got the package information. It lets you go through and basically build your hybrid but it doesn't give package prices.

Is the auto on/off feature when the headlights come on automatically when it's dark outside whether you manually turn them on or not? My wife says that there are a couple things she loves about Buick Regal and will not do without.

One is the auto on/off headlights. The other is the sun visors that are extendable.

Also, taking my own advice, I'm not pushing my wife into getting a HyCam right away but rather waiting until it's time to trade in her current car. I will need to curb my own enthusiasm.

Yeah. Auto Headlights just mean that whenever the light threshold is passed, it'll turn on or off the lights and automatically dim the IP and screen accordingly.

Yes, it's at a bargain price and all dealers in southern california want at least $5000 over that.
