The new owner has a consistent report format that makes generation of this table a little easier. The November data was under the old format so more 'holes.' Still, it is easier to see the trends.

Ok, I'm going to leave this table format alone for now pending any corrections on the numbers. So let me offer some initial impressions:
    • reference sales: Prius Liftback, Camry Hybrid, Jetta Diesel - these models had no substantial change and have been around for a while. They constitute valid reference, a scale to measure the performance of others.
    • new models doing good: Fusion Hybrid, Prius C, Tesla S, Avalon Hybrid, Kia Optima Hybrid, Golf Diesel, Honda CR-Z
    • breathing hard: Ford C-Max, Passat Diesel, Chevy Volt, Sonata, CT200h, ES Hybrid, GL-Class Diesel, Nissan Leaf, BMX X5 Diesel
My "impressions" may translate into a future, automated 'metric' of relative sales trend. I'm thinking of some type of weighted average that helps identify which models have braggin' rights; which one seem to be headed to the dustbin of history, and; which ones are foundational.

BTW, I am always interested in suggestions to improve the table and automated analysis. In the past, I've cut off anything under 100 sales but this time I left them in. Another couple of months and I'll post a ZIP file with the commented spreadsheet. The idea is to leave copies around in case I get distracted by my other hobby. <grins>

Well, it's because they've been able to ramp up their production. Those numbers are only guesses since Tesla doesn't report monthly sales. They can only guess based upon SEC/earnings report filings.

It'll be very interesting to see what Tesla's sustained sales/delivery rate is once they've cleared their backlog and the early adopters all of their cars.

They discussed it on the earnings report. They had a healthy number of new deposits for cars. They are in California the best selling car in there price point.

The market is only so large. I think they will level off and the backlog will be met.

They have not started production yet on the lowest priced model S. I caught the earnings report on CNBC but they touched on the highlights. Tesla sounds like it is In good shape. They can't make enough cars to keep up with the orders.

In the past, I cut off the report at 100 sales because it took more time than I felt the effort was worth. They tended to be soon-to-be-gone, just-introduced, and what at best could be called "halo" cars (i.e., we aren't so d*mn dumb, we can make a hybrid too.) Perhaps it might be more tasteful to just list the names on a 'tombstone' but over time, it would become a pretty big rock.

I'm more interested in the healthy segment of fuel efficient cars but I do take a little schadenfreude at the C-MAX numbers. Off to a great start, it is starting to breath hard.

Yes, I believe you're correct that the 40 kwh model hasn't gone into production yet.

Despite all of this, they still haven't turned a profit once and have racked up a LOT of losses. Keep in mind that per About Tesla | Tesla Motors, they were founded in 2003.

Patience my friend. They say Toyota invested over 1 Billion on R&d and production tooling for the Prius before the first car rolled off the line.

I'm no telling you go out and buy Tesla stock but it takes a USA capital market to raise the capital to get that kind of business off he ground. This quarter they will be net profitable.

Your right there income statement is horrible. But they are growing revenue faster than a Model S can merge into a freeway

CMax Energi took a serious dip. What's up with that?

Do these numbers include fleet sales such as for taxi use?
Regardless, just comparing priuschat to c-max sales they are pretty close, yet I have only ever seen one c-max in the wild, on the other hand prius v sightings are a daily occurrence for me, not including taxi sightings.
Maybe the cmax blends in more? :S

I noticed 3 of them which prompted a look at the web site. 20 mile EV range and 32 K with a 3.5 K rebate + all the tax incentives.

Like the Prius Plug-in, the CMax Energi isn't worth the price compared to the regular model.

Toyota, unlike Tesla, has very deep pockets. It an afford to take a huge loss as it ramped up hybrid sales.

gosh, that CR-Z has been out for quite some time, almost 2 years I believe. All the Honda hybrid sales are terrible imo.

btw, Accord hybrid was typo in hybrid dashboard. That comes out in about August I heard.

I'm mixed about Volt. Doesn't seem like it's doing too awfully bad for being such an expensive car.

Leaf, ouch, they are just way off their targets set long ago.

Good catch! It looks like they double counted/listed the Accord PHEV.

From February 2013 Dashboard - HybridCars.com, it seems very unlikely the Accord Hybrid and PHEV each sold exactly 17 units in Feb '13.
