Hey guys, 2 weeks ago I got my brand new Prius tinted. Well the job turns out very crappy, full of dust and contamination. So I took it back today to get it redone.

After I picked up the car, in less than 1000ft, the CEL and limp home mode kicked in accompanied by a warning on the dash saying "Hybrid system error, please stop in a safe place". I limped a further 5miles into the nearest Toyota dealer. After running through the code, a couple of them pop up. I only remember 2.
    1) something about the shift indicator high voltage reading
    2) Hybrid system disconnected

I think there were a couple more. The mechanic immediately ask me if I have just have the car tinted. I replied yes. He goes on to say that there are either water or humidity that have gotten under the dash (I have the windshield retintied). After the system dry it should be all good, and no permanent damage will be done. Nevertheless, after 2 hour in tropical sun the system still did not return to normal. He said that he will have a through inspection of the system on Monday to get to the bottom of this.

    I am wondering.

    1) Will there be permanent damage?
    2) Will this effect the deployment of air-bag and other safety device?
    3) Should I consider ditching this car and grab another one instead?

I have a feeling I am going to loose sleep over this....

Btw, I am in Thailand if that helps.

It might take three on/off cycles to Ready mode to clear the warning.
