Hybrids on Parade. Help break a World Record. July 24. Madison, WI

    Come join your Prius friends in helping set a new world record for the Longest Hybrid Car Parade, Sunday morning, July 24 in Madison, WI.

    According to Guinness, the current record is only 140 cars that was set in Belgium and I know we can smash through that record.

    It's FREE to attend, you'll get a bunch of goodies, plus enjoy the satisfaction of being part of a world record!

    You've got to do one in Nor or So Cal. I'd imagine you'd be able to beat the turnout in WI.

    I'm moving back to Nor Cal about a month from now. :)

    the record is only 140?.. that's not many. you can see more by sitting by any freeway around here for a couple minutes... or just drive around for a couple minutes... heck i think the city parking enforcers have more prii on the road at any time. (and that's only half the fleet, the other half are hybrid civics)

    i propose a southern california hybrid parade...

    btw.. i don't get why wi is trying to be a green state.. i've seen nothing come from there. (laws or products)

    Just because there are hybrids doesn't mean someone will take the time to actually organize it into an official record-breaking parade.

    Wisconsin already has the largest hybrid car club in the US, so it makes sense that the parade would happen there, too.

    It takes a long time and a committed group of people to pull something like this off, along with more than a bit of $$. And on top of that, Guinesses' standards are very high.

    That said...if people want to help organize a parade in the California Bay Area the 3rd weekend in September, let me know. PM, email ([email protected]), or call me at 608-729-4082

    I think the record in Wisconsin will stand for quite a while. Come on over and be a part of it!

    Too far to drive.

    If serious about fixing this you could offer people meal gift certificates to attend and you'd get a LOT more people willing to put in some miles. But also if it were hosted in a city not kind of the middle of nowhere would help :)

    There will be food at the event. Although Madison may seem to be in the middle of nowhere, the fact that they can gather so many people to beat the World Record will also be a testament to their perseverance.

    Again, I am certain Wisconsin has a much larger hybrid car club than anywhere in your state. Owners here like to get together, share stories, and generally have a good time. This is an extension of our Midwestern hospitality.

    Thank you in advance to everyone who is helping to make this happen. And good luck to those of you who think they can beat the record after us!

    Right, because we certainly don't need gas certificates!

    Madison isn't as rural as you'd think. Major college town and also within a few hour drive of Chicago, Milwaukee and Minneapolis. Plus, there's plenty of good cheese and beer making it worth the drive. So, yeah, a coupon for a bag of fresh cheese curds and a 6-pack of Spotted Cow would do. Okay, maybe it is a bit rural...

    I ought to start one of these around here, near Woodstock, NY. It seems that 1 in 3 cars is a Prius. This is freakin' Priusland!
