    2004 Toyota Prius: Introduction
Hyped Hybrid: The new Prius still asks, why be normal?

Although power is up, Prius is still a modest performer. Toyota makes up for it with an entertainment factor in the dask display, where a dizzying array of numbers, charts and graphs all tell you the same thing: This car sometimes runs on electricity alone, so you are saving the Earth, darn it! The previous model's geeky nature has been dialed back, and the new one is roomier, but many interior elements still seem different for the sake of being different, like the stubby gearshift thingy. The liftback to the cargo area is handy.
