Yeah, put up a fight for Toyota!
Nice find. And it has an independent rear suspension ,,, interesting.

    yes double wishbone.

I didn't cut and past all of the article, there are more rumbling (but no real details). They are speculating Atkinson 1.6 and much better MPG than Sonata.

I am curious if they had slapped Gen3 HSD powertrain. Toyota's patents expired in 2013.

That's good: Patents expired. I've been hoping for years for several other mfrs. to virtually copy the Prius liftback.

That is great, but no one can match Toyota reliablity.

I remember reading about patents.. but don't hold me for exact date.

I am speculating that perhaps Gen4 blackout may be related to new patents. As Toyota can't match thermal efficiency of competition, if they want to maintain edge they need to much improve HSD to have upper hand in MPG game. Otherwise someone like Mazda will beat them by just slapping SkyActiv on Gen3 HSD.

Nice rear suspension. It'll compete with the CT200h on handling (or possibly the Gen 4. Depends on how Toyota tuned the rear suspension. I believe they're going to double wishbone too).

Also, that's an interesting muffler design. Are they planning on a bypass valve (like some sports cars)? Otherwise, why have it that wide?

But does Hyundai need to copy the HSD? The Sonata hybrid is close to the Camry one already, and the next gen comes out for 2016MY. No MPG numbers, but it does have a fully folding back seat.

Hyundai doesn't need to beet the Prius in MPG, just come close. If they only get 50mpg to a 4th gen Prius' 55mpg, but undercut the price, that maybe more important to many buyers.

whats the point of nibbling at the sales of a car that captures a minuscule part of the market?

Honda is pretty darn close and right now, they (Honda) have a model I would purchase. Unfortunately, Toyota has no model I would consider purchasing. I'm hoping that will change fairly soon.

I've taken a close look at the 2015 Sonata. They look pretty decent outside, generous seating / room up front. Materials quality pretty decent, but it isn't up to Honda quality, that's for sure. Spare tire area on Sonata looked a wee cheesy.

Too soon to buy another car. Looking for a little improvement in options / color options.

Seriously disappointed in Toyota over the Camry / 2015 Camry / Hybrid. But, this time (like 2010), I'm not going to complain about the Camry, buy it anyway, then complain some more. Nope.

Interesting, Hyundai has quite 'break' in line between the hood and windshield, like was talked about for Toyota at least couple years ago.
