On August 1st, I officially became part of the Prius Collective. W00T! Got my Silver 2010 Prius III with Nav. Wanted the Solar, but couldn't afford it. :( Oh well, I will live.

I test drove, Jetta TDI, Honda Civic hybrid, and Honda Insight. There was just no comparrison, Pruis won hands down.

A huge shout out to Jeff (aka Jabber here on PC) and the folks at Pauly Toyota in Crystal Lake, IL. Also a shout out to Nan from the finance side at Pauly. Everyone there treated me right and got me taken care of. Even if they wouldn't install missle launchers on my car; something about weight restrictions. :p

Things were very crazy on Saturday when I went to get my car. The first round of CFC was still going on. Jeff had said that they had sold 180 cars from Tuesday to Sat, He also sold 3 more while I was there. The Lot there was indeed looking pretty empty.

It took me 12 days before I had to fill up, which I thought was pretty good. Had 483 miles on my first tank of gas, and averaged 52.3 MPG. Now, with being only a little bit into my second tank, I am already up to 55 MPG:).

And finally, a huge shout out to the folks here on PC. I stumbled across the site, when I saw info on the Earth Day live chat. And was like hey this looks like a pretty good site for information. Where by, I also found Jabber, because there were a few dealerships near me, and hadn't decided as of yet, where I wanted to go. So, thanks for all the information, I was able to make a great choice in a new car.

Now, anyone want to help me pay for this thing? :D

I picked up mine this morning!

spare a hooray for me! I picked up my sandy beach Prius II this morning!

The dealer made no attempt to push the warranty on me, to my surprise.

LOL! I've never thought about it, but "Collective" makes sense. I've grown to enjoy Prius Chat quite a bit but sometimes I think the Synergy is more between Owner and Automobile than between ICE and Hybrid Components.

Cross the critical line, and you can easily get the "Resistance is Futile" feeling.

Congrats! I also picked up a Silver Prius IV with Nav on Aug 1st. Crazy time too at the City Toyota in SF Bay Area but was handled professionally by my salesperson. Turned in my 96 Jeep GCherokee as a clunker and got a good price on the prius. Although I'm not getting 55 mpg...I've been getting 42-44 mpg and I'm also on the 2nd tank of gas. I guess I have more hills around here... :)

I am right there with you. C4C has made it even more exciting to be a new owner as these things are just not easy to find right now.

Would you share a quick description of how you are driving it? Like a slow poke always watching the HSI, or just normally like any other car, or ??

I am very early into my first tank and am still learning and enjoying. Getting 45 - 46; I think breaking 50mpg will come when I can get in more than just short hops on errands.

    Hi Eagle. Welcome aboard :welcome:

I grew up in Illinois and once tried explaining to a friend from Mass. just how flat it was there...about 5 years later he called me late one night from St. Louis where he was attending a conference "I get it now" was all he said LOL

I got my Prius II on Saturday and look forward to my first trip back to Illinois to visit to see what kind of mileage I can get on flat, straight Interstate 80/90 for 700 miles :) Sure going to be better than filling the Jeep up twice

For the first few hundred miles. Been trying to take it easy, with the whole break-in thing. But for the most part, been driving it normally, like I did with my old car. I live in a suburb area, so I have a good number of stoplights, and stop signs. With traffic moderate to heavy at most times.

What I have found out, that I am not sure if people are driving differently or if it is because I now drive a Prius. But I feel that a lot more people are passing me. Even though I may be driving faster then the posted limit, not by much though. I was starting to think the spedometer was wrong, but my Brother in law had a spedometer app on his Iphone and showed me that it was correct.

Wait... Didn't you see/feel two small tubes inject something into your body once you took ownership? :)

I really hope they weren't thinking of the Borg when they came up with their ad slogan "harmony between man, nature and machine". :D

Thanks for the shout out! Glad you are enjoying it. Like I said before, if there is anything you need, or want a refresher course on it, just stop by. Now that things have slowed down a touch, I can spend the time I need to to do a proper delivery.

Enjoy and see you around the area!
