While I'm waiting for the replacement axle to come in I have a little while to install a few items that I snagged from ebay:

I have started the fog light install. Since this is a package 2 there is no setting for the fog lights on the headlight stalk. This will work just as well as well as fill in one of those empty switch blanks. The switch is for a Yaris and it is backlit just like the reset of the buttons in the car.

I also popped in the right side button set for a bluetooth/nav car that I picked up. It works about like you would expect: You get the no nav system installed error like a package 3 or 4 gets and the bluetooth buttons do nothing. The INFO button works perfectly though. I have other plans for the MAP button....

I also installed the rear bumper guard but everyone has seen those before.

I'm willing to wait and see what you come up with.

But in case you're looking for ideas for the bluetooth buttons:

    • passenger seat eject button
    • a button for invoking REAL stealth
    • driver/passenger seat warmers

It does not say "External system not present" across the top of the MFD? I have seen other package 3 and 4 cars that did this.

Too obvious. And with the left over blank on the dash, the standard OEM button would go there.

I think you should think about interior LED lights on that open switch.
    Ps the
It does not say "External system not present" across the top of the MFD? I have seen other package 3 and 4 cars that did this.
I have a package 3 2008 and the blue tooth works great through the stereo and I don't get the error above either

So is the electrical wiring harness for the fog lights already installed on the 2008/pkg 2 setup JS? Also, the right side button set for the bluetooth/nav car requires a bezel mirror imaged to that on the LHS. Is the wiring already present (but hidden) behind the existing pkg 2 bezel?

I'm interested since I too have a 2008/pkg 2 Prius and am curious as to whether the basic wiring harness setup incorporates the ability to add the various electrical options you mentioned, without adding additional wire.

The wiring for the fog lights is not present in a non fog light car. I bought a fog light kit that has it's own harness and installed it like that. It's almost plug and play. You have to splice 1 wire and crimp a terminal on another. There is a spot on the main dash junction box to plug in to for the power, you just need to splice into the headlight harness to power up the switch when you have the headlights on. Other than that it's just a matter of running the harness to the correct location. Take note: the Prius kits that are out there don't include the nice button that fits in the blank to the left of the steering wheel. I have only seen them in Yaris fog light kits. I bought a Yaris kit and a set of Prius fog light housings for my install. The wiring for the MAP, INFO, and bluetooth buttons is present in the car. You just need to get the right hand button set and plug it in. The only thing you will gain is the INFO button though as the rest of the buttons don't do anything. It's worth it just for the INFO button IMO though plus you get all of those extra buttons if you want to mod them to do something else.
