So I had LED mirror turn signals installed when the car had 1000 miles(2011 model bought brand new in 2012), now the car has 15000 miles, and the battery died two days in a row. I took it into the Toyota dealership, and they say the car is not covered because of the aftermarket add-ons. They said the dome light stays on and is causing the battery to drain. I don't want to spend $600+ to fix this and I can't take it back to the shop because it's been more then a year since the work was done...no warranty....what shall I do?

I assume it's the main ecu....or the ecu that the turn signals, dome light, and the radio are plugged into.

I would seriously doubt it's an ecu problem.

Does the dome light stay on regardless of switch position?

Take the bulbs out until you figure out how the wiring is messed up. Sounds like the LED's were hooked to the wrong switch terminal.

That's my plan...a little bummed that it's fall/winter and it gets dark so I will be entering a dark car.

I wish I could...I didn't do the install, but I am told by Toyota, that it is done in the door panel, and through the ecu.

Can't be in the door panel. They would have had to come out to the fuse box behind the knee pad to access the turn signal circuit. Or atleast to the lower kick panel. Who did the install?

I would read almost through just the first post of this thread of how owners installed the combo side mirrors DIY JDM style side mirrors combo lights (Signal+Parking+Courtesy lights) | PriusChat
which include the wiring location of the left/right turn signal wires. This should give you at least a general idea of where to start looking for things. In particular, look at pictures # 17 and 18. This is how and where I would tap in in terms of connections of turn signals. There should not be any connection behind the door panel like toyotechwv said. The +/- wires from each LED light should loop through the mirror housing, through the door's main wiring line and into the car. But we don't know how your shop did it.

Reading that thread I see the mirrors tap into the dome light. THAT is likely where your issue is. I would pull the light down and check. If you're remotely near southern WV I'd be happy to check it for you.

Thank you for all your help. I got this done at a shop in Everett, WA...yes, they came from the out to the fuse box behind the knee pad to access the turn signal circuit. I noticed a lot of wires there...I may take a photo and upload it. I will check the doom light and see if wires are attached there...where is the ECU that the Toyota dealership is talking about? They said if I can get the wires that are tapped into it off, they will re-look at it for no cost. I would love to have my doom light working again.
