I am leaning pretty heavily towards getting one of the sensors (probably for both front and rear). Anyone interested in a going in for a group purchase? We might save a few pounds (and we all know how much of those we need to lose ;))

There is a thread on the install for a Gen II here

:banplease: Please NOTE: I posted this to gauge interest in a group purchase, and NOT to hear opinions about whether or not you think this is a worthwhile mod. :nono: If you aren't interested then move along. Quietly. :D

You might also look here http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...tions/69601-very-cool-parking-assist-mod.html - I put the real sensors in - and they work fine - while you do drill 4 holes, once done it looks just like a factory install...

For what it's worth, I didn't do it on my last two IIIs because really, a camera is far better and more accurate...

Thanks. I am really more interested in the front sensor because I know it's only a matter of time before I forget and run up against a parking stop, cracking or scuffing the front dam. I really like the color combo on that part of the car and want to keep it from getting damaged --- especially after I lower with the PP springs.

I've trained myself to park quite a distance from the curb/parking stop. The Prius is short enough to still fit in the spot if the nose is a few feet away from the parking stop. It's just something you train yourself to do and now I never worry about hitting a parking stop.

    1) I am pretty sure I am untrainable. Ask my wife for confirmation. ;)

    2) Said wife is, um, perhaps some of the reason for the need. ;)

I can totally relate regarding the wife. My wife inflicted a nasty rash on the front end while driving and honestly has no idea how it happened. I took the liberty of fixing it when it was in the shop from being rear ended. So it's not just parking stops that are risky with wives ;)

I'm interested in the front sensor at least.

I have also been in contact with Proxel (Proxel - Electromagnetic Parking Sensor - NO holes on the bumper!) about their front sensor: EPS-DUAL FRONT. They quoted 90 Euros shipped direct from Italy. They also provided me with their recommended installation placement for lower spoiler protection. I have asked if they would be willing to offer a group discount.

For those of you that have expressed interest, let me know if the Proxel unit would work for you. :)

Update: Proxel will offer a 20% discount if at least four of us purchase a kit. That would make our price 78 Euros for the EPS-DUAL FRONT kit. :)

I am in for one. Any others?

Here is the installation recommendation for the Proxel EPS-DUAL FRONT sensor that was provided to me. The blue line is for general front end protection and the yellow line would be sensor placement for specific sensitivity to proximity to the lower front spoiler.

We need at least two more PC members to sign-up for this in order to get a group buy discount of 20% for a final price of 72 Euros. That is about $91 at today's rate (and likely to get cheaper as the Euro continues to fall) :)

They also accept Paypal so that is another bonus in making this an easy purchase.

will it work for both front and rear of the car? what's the shipping cost? if that's the price 72 euro, I MIGHT consider a set or two (front and rear)!!!
are they the same types of sensor for both manufactures???

Looking at the Proxel website, I only see a description of the rear sensor, which is powered from the backup lights. The front install apparently requires an on/off switch, which I think is a nuisance. Can you contact Proxel and find out if the on/off switch is absolutely necessary?

I sent you a PM, but others might want to contact Mauro at Proxel as well. His email is: mdelsignore@proxel.com

I should have had this installed today before I backed into the truck parked across the street! And Prius is only one month old!

You backed into the truck even with the rear view camera on?
