If accesories like the AC, radio, and headlights are on while the Prius is gliding or deadbanding with the energy display showing no current flow between the battery and the motors, are the accesories being powered by the motor or the battery?

If the ICE (motor) is not running, then all accessories are powered off of the battery.

There are many threads about current flow, you should be able to do a search to find them.

There are a few basic flows

    1. From ICE to Electric Motor to Battery meter (arrow go from Motor Icon to Electric Motor Icon to Battery Meter) - Gas Engine is being used to charge the Batteries
    2. From ICE to drivetrain (arrows go from Motor Icon to wheel Icon) - Gas engine alone is driving the vehicle
    3. From Batteries to Electric Motor to Drive train (arrows go from Battery icon to Electric Motor Icon to Wheels Icon) - Battery power alone is driving the vehicle
    5. From Regeneration to Batteries (arrows go from Wheel Icon to Electric Motor Icon to Battery Meter)

Of course you can combine #2 and #3 when both the gas and electric engines are being used together.

Also, the ICE can choose to power the vehicle and can at the same time recharge the battery packs through th electric motor (so the electric motor arrows would be going towards the battery pack).

Its kinda confusing at first, but if you focus on this screen rather then the Consumption screen, you will get a better feel for the behavior of the engines and charging systems.

Radio and headlights are powered by the 12V. The A/C is powered by the HV battery so even if you glide, with mod-heavy A/C usage, you will lose bars.

Another way to think about it is this: all the accessories and such are powered (either directly or indirectly through the 12V system) by the battery. The ICE doesn't directly provide power to any of these things, it'll only charge the batteries.

The MFD only shows energy used to propel the vehicle. It does not trace any other energy uses in the vehicle.

So, accessory use is not indicated by any moving bars.
