If Toyota can make it happen, definitely transfer to Dianne. Even if Sam tries to make it right, the fact that such behavior and practices are tolerated (perhaps even cultivated) is reason enough to steer clear of Toyota Place of Garden Grove. I followed Allande's lead and sent an email to Sam also. I'll be sure to also let all my friends know what kind of place Toyota Place of Garden Grove is and how they like to treat their customers. Ordering/committing to buying a car 4-6 months before it even arrives is already somewhat stressful. Then to have the excitement of your Plug-In's arrival crushed by this dealer totally sucks.
It absolutely IS sad. If this affects dealer allocations or the number of customers coming in the door, they will care. But the old saying "There is a sucker born every minute" still applies. Rip off artists will be with us until the very last day that people walk the earth. We just need to collectively learn to avoid them. My dealer has been "Lilly pure" by comparison but it is still a pain to buy a new car (I just took delivery of my PiP two days ago).

Delz, OK, we'll call off the Drive-In Revolt. Do you want us all to email Sam Chaalan, General Manager? sam@toyotaplace.com Say the word !!!
That sucks... I hope my experience doesn't go down like that or else we will have some real issues!!! I should get mine in a month or so.
I'm sorry to hear that this has happened to you.You have a contract and they broke it, and your 100% in the right. Let Toyota sort this out for you, and don't pay into their extortion. If they sell your PIP out from under you you'll have a great legal case against them. What ever you do after this is settled don't use them for anything ever, and do follow up with the BBB etc.
Hey, Sam responded to my email: Well, thats a start. I would still rather deal with Dianne. But I suppose if Sam is true to his word and Delz has a good experience, I guess that's all that matters.
Here was my email to Sam: I'm quite surprised I got such a quick response. In fact, I didnt think he'd respond at all since I called them douche bags (normally I wouldnt resort to name calling, but what the hell, they deserve it..) It was sad thinking how I myself was so excited when I got the email and call from Dianne.. and to think if I were in Delz's shoes, how I probably would've felt sick to my stomach hearing I would also have to pay an additional $2600 for forced options.
Thanks for your support, everybody! I got a friendly call from Toyota Place who admitted the mistake and told me the car was indeed mine, even with all the options, and I will get the car at the agreed price. Now I'll follow up with Toyota CEC about the case and check on that possibility of a dealer transfer. Feeling better.
Double WOW !!! Get out of Tracksyde's way !!! "Douche Bags" in your opening sentence. You get right to the point. Good job.
The sad part is that operations like this that do business with the cunning and deceit of a Romulan and the amoral profiteering of a Ferengi bear constant scrutiny, and will always be with us. Keep those phasers charged.
I wouldn't be surprised if they rush to take off as many of those options as they can. I'm willing to bet the alarm is the first thing to go. I'd check the car over like a hawk to make sure everything is perfect. The sad part about this is that it took all this non-sense to get the GM to intervene. Imagine how many customers they screw daily who aren't aware of these public forums to share their experiences.
LOL you do realize every time that dealers name is Googled this page will show, and so will this letter.... Good work Tracksyde. and delz best of luck with the new car you'll LOVE IT.
And that is just the way it SHOULD be. People will also see that the dealer came around and how. The "light of day" is good for all. Now get right down there and pick up that car, TODAY.
