Thanks to all you good Prius people for all the good info! We finally got our Prius and I already knew pretty much what extras/mods we wanted thanks to reading PRIUSCHAT. They're all ordered but not here yet- only got the tinting so far.

I wondered what you think was the most important extra you got for your Prius?

Congratulations! you look like your on your way. It is endless to the things you can add to your Prius. I've done a few things like a "clear bra" for protection, but I think the mud guards are the best. I have a black Prius and the guards keep most of the splash marks off by side. Good luck

Side molding thats painted to match your color, mud flaps to protect the splash up onto the paint, a nice pin stripe on each side, to get rid of the pregnant roller skate look, and remove those beauty rims on the mag wheels they just pull off , the full mag look looks so much better.

Thanks guys- you both mentioned mud-flaps so I will order them tomorrow. I wondered about those and how important they were.

I DID remove the trim rings from the wheels the day we brought her home. My husband wondered "what in the world" until I told him I read it on "Priuschat". He admitted it looked much better with them off.

About the side moldings- do they really help with dings? They seem to be placed to low on the car to really help?

Pick a really nice bra, don't go cheap. I picked up a couple chips before I got mine, still doesn't cover as high as I want. Think I shoud have gone with the clear 3M film.

Oh and 2 weekends ago we were pushing the boat out and the prop hit the hood right next to the emblem. 18' ski boat and a monster trailer. The bra took it and nothing was managed. If I didn't have it then there would be a nice crease in my hood.

Have you listened to the anemic horn? With all the loud noise in a typical car today (including people blabbing on cell phones) I think the Prius horn is so weak as to be a safety issue. I just added a pair of PIAA horns (~$45 from Amazon) and they make a big difference. The install is not difficult if you're slightly handy. (Do a search here for more information.)

Definately recommend getting mud flaps, tinting, all weather OEM floor mats and cargo mat.

My faves are: Weathertech floor matts, ClearBra, and Side Molding (With Paint Protection Film Added)

The greatest value IMHO is the 3M door edge protectors. About $10 for the film, and the keep you from getting chips on the edge of the door.

While a clear bra is expensive ($200 for materials, +$300 for instalation, unless you want to DIY) it does not have the problems of a traditional bra (rust, paint damage, etc). You want to apply this ASAP, before you get chips, as the chips will show MORE with the clearbra on top.... but it is quite effective at preventing damage.

Get some hood protection. You will very likely get a dent on the hood of your new Prius from road debris if you do any freeway driving. The aluminum hood and thin paint can't handle road debris well. My body side moldings have also saved my doors from several dents and dings.

    Enjoy the ride

Where do you get this and how is it installed (easy to do)? My dh might like a way to play his iPod. He has a 2005 package 6.
