Japanese market OEM window rain guards

I ordered the Japanese market OEM window rain guards from Sigma Automotive.

These are genuine 2010 Prius accessories from Japan, not available in the U.S. market.

I just installed them, and I am very impressed. They are custom designed for the Prius, aerodynamic, and even include clips underneath to help keep them in place (not just dependent on sticky tape like 3rd party ones).

Here are some pictures. Please forgive that my car hasn't been washed in a week and been through 2-3 thunderstorms since then. Picture #5 is my attempt to show the internal clips (2 per piece).

cDo they interfer with the auto up/down of the window operation? I had them made by Weathertec on my 2007 and not always but once in a while the auto up would go back down. Then I had to ease them in with the button by hand.

Also I saw on the website that they also have double sided tape? In that case they would not sit in the channel and interfer?

No intereference at all, this is an OEM product designed to go with the car. Attached with double sided tape to outside door frame and with clips to inside of frame under rubber seal. Physical design matches sharp angles of car. Link I provided shows you were you can order from Japan, they are not available in the US otherwise.

These are the best looking wind deflectors I have ever seen.

Took it up to 85 and I can report they add zero wind noise.

The ones I had before were made by Weathertec and they sat in the window channel thereby at times causing problems with the auto up feature of the drivers door.

Weathertech units I had on my wife's old Suzuki did the same, tuck into the channel. Never again.

AVS units on hew new Suzuki are perfect. I don't plan on spending that much for vents shades, that's way too much. I miss them, as I've had them on every car I've had (with a roof) since 1993.

Are these easy to install? I did notice when I ordered them that all the instructions are in Japanese.... I also ordered a bug reflector. I'm hoping it will help prevent hood dings from rocks. I already have one! Thanks for posting.

Totally Japanese, but it was easy to figure out by reading all the images twice. Then after the first one, it was a breeze!

Yes, basically I saw what they wanted to be done and did it my way. (haha) I cleaned the area of application on the car with nail polish remover. I put the little foam bits in the corners of the door as shown in their picture. I put the clips onto the visor first, (the right way is pointed out in a picture in the Japanese instructions.) then I pulled the rubber seal bit down from the window, (came off easy and didn't come off fully, just sagged in the middle which is perfect.) Then I slid the clip up in where it wanted to be, positioned the visor perfectly to my liking and then popped the rubber seal up so it would hold well while I removed the little barrier between the adhesive and the door! It was simple, they are super strong, they look good, and function well.

It appears by their design that they wouldn't help with the issue of rain dripping off the roof onto the seat when you open the door. Is that true? This is one of my biggest annoyances with this car, since I live in the Seattle area. Lots of rain.

yep, absolutely right. They are attached to the door, so wouldn't help with that at all.

Will definitely look into these - I've been soaked once with water running off the roof into the open window while turning a corner leaving the parking lot, and my friend was just soaked yesterday.

That's my problem, I like to have the windows down while driving to work for cool(ish) Maryland mornings, but if we get rain or lots of dew (like always) the water runs off the roof into the inside of my door. I even tried wiping my hand over the window ledge, but it doesn't help and makes it worse.. I don't want to pay $145 + shipping though.. about $40 w/ shipping sounds good to me

U can get the hicusa ones.. They look like the oem ones, but doesn't have the clip.. Those are 45.00 shipped! I've had them on my car for 2 months with no issues..

$35 is cheap but boy the look dog ugly. Still. Price reflects the image.

I've had the Japanese side visors on other various cars and the only thing I don't like about them is the fact that they scratch very very easily. In no time when you wash the car, the scratches appear on the shiny new plastic but the good thing is that they won't give you plastic cuts if you slide your hand over it when you're washing the car unlike most blow moulded side visors. The Japanese ones are injection moulded.

LOL. Those are generic pictures used in the ebay listing. The actual visors are JDM replicas and use the same mould. They look/fit exactly like the $140 ones.
