Where are you guys getting the breakdown of PiP on a per month basis?

    June
    LEAF: 535
    Volt: 1,760 (Corvette: 1,475)
    PiP: ???

P.S. Wow this forum's interface is nice. Best one I've seen.

Heh. The opinion is mixed. See Would you want to go back to vBulletin (the old software)? | PriusChat.

Although I like a few new features here, personally, I'd rather go back to the old software, as long as the previous board's perf problems could be resolved. Tivocommunity runs vBulletin and although I don't seem to be able to find an simultaneous active user count, they've not had perf problems in a long while.

My answer was "Yes, but I don't feel as strongly as the above".

The sales numbers are not good, but it still too early to draw much of a conclusion, as the PiP are only available in 15 states (maps from insideEVs.com):

so there is very clearly a "supply" issue if you are in the center of the country.. (like CO or TX )

And there could be other supply issues as well. But I'll also add that cars.com (which is a very crude source since it often counts cars that are already sold and cars still in transit), shows 2727 Plug-in Prius in stock.

The bigger concern I would have is that the total sales of EV/PHEV is down..and it is < 3K cars per year adding new cars like the Energi will only be dividing a small pie. We need to help make the pie bigger.

I haven't looked on their lot but one of my local dealers has 8 (EIGHT) standard PiPs listed in the inventory.

PS Finally saw my first wild Volt last weekend, heading south between Freeport and Portland.

The good news is that the price of gas is down. The bad news is that it's the higher price of gas that seems to stimulate Prius sales.

Not many TV commercials for any of the EVs.
I see a few Volt ads, but PIPs and Leafs are just included briefly with the whole line of Toyotas or Nissans.
No commercials just for the PIP or Leaf.

If they would advertize, more would be sold.

    Toyota Prius
    Jun 2012 19,150
    % Chg from Jun 2011 341.2
    YTD 2012 126,654
    % Chg from YTD 2011 90.4

341% and 90% look pretty good except that there was very little inventory at this time last year do to the shut down.
I'm seeing way to many unsold vehicles mostly trucks on the local lots. Almost like it was before the so called bailout. Our local Chevy dealer has had to rent a city parking garage to store them.

Right, sales numbers from Toyota and Honda (esp.) are likely to be pretty messed up (low for a fair part of last year) due to the tsunami and parts supply disruption.

So in June, Chevy sold more that twice as many Volts as Toyota sold Plug-in Prius? Ouch!

True but the Plug-in Prius is only sold in 15 states.. that does not help them and its not totally comparable. Too early to draw much of a conclusion. Bigger issues is that all EV/PHEV sales are not growing...

Also remember that Chevy is pushing out the Volts that don't qualify for certain benefits, such as car-pool lanes in CA. They had to upgrade the emissions package on the "newer" model.

What do you mean by pushing out?

The eAT-PZEV version of the '12 Volt that qualify for CA green HOV sticker has been shipping for a little while.
