What fun! I hope I can stay awake long enough to catch the next show. I bet you did a great job.

    Hi All,

Just watched the 00:30 UTC showing, but missed the first 9 minutes. Did not see Ken. So he must have been during those first 9 minutes. I started watching when they were talking about the MIEV.

Thanks. I overslept and missed the 00:30 UTC showing. I'll be sure to catch the first 10 minutes of the next showing which is at 4:30 UTC / 12:30 a.m. Eastern Time.

Missed it. How do I watch it now?

Go to this website: NHK WORLD English

Click the play button on the screen in the upper right hand corner.

Note if that doesn't work, you probably have to download some software.

    The scheduled UTC times are Friday June 26, 2009 at 00:30 / 4:30 / 8:30 / 12:30 / 16:30 / 20:30.

You being in the central time zone I think works out to UTC minus 5 hours, meaning the next showing scheduled for 4:30 UTC should be 11:30 pm central time tonight (Thursday June 25).

I waited for the 4:30 UTC showing, and the website's video wouldn't cooperate and play the show. Then it crashed my Firefox session.

When I had tested it several times earlier, sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't.

    Pretty frustrating.

Just watched the 16:30 session (it is 6:30 pm here in Sydney). Saw Ken - he was shown demonstrating pulse and glide with the comment that he got 93 mpg from his GenIII drive.

Nice overall discussion on eco cars - featured the Prius, then the Mitsubishi iMev, then the Honda Clarity. At the end of the session, they put some figures up on how eco cars are selling in Japan. Up until a couple of months ago, the ratio has been 1 in 25 were hybrids. That has now zoomed to 1 in 8 new cars are hybrids. They say, to meet the greenhouse emission targets, they need to get to 1 in 2 cars being at least a hybrid, if not pure electric.

    UPDATE:

I just tried Internet Explorer, with which the video playback on that NHK WORLD English website seems to work without a hitch.

Last showing is at 20:30 UTC or 4:30 pm Eastern Time today:

After the MS plug-in is installed (yech) and Safari restarted, I could watch the video clip. I missed the first 4 minutes or so of the show, but I think I caught Ken@japan. Mostly they filmed the MID displaying 40 Km/Liter :)

I missed the last showing because the website's video player wouldn't cooperate.

I had two computers going with all required plug-ins installed. One computer was open to the website through Internet Explorer, and the other was open to the website through Firefox.

Prior to the last scheduled showing, both players were working and were showing all scheduled programs.

But when 20:30 UTC (4:30 pm Eastern Time) rolled around and Ken's program was supposed to air, both players wouldn't play the program and instead said "Wait until the next program". :(

And then when 21:00 UTC (5:00 pm Eastern Time) rolled around, the next scheduled program played.

    Don't know what happened.
