L.E.D. Headlights low beam

    I wondering how good illumination will be with the new LED Headlight. Does any body has seen that headlights on current streets vehicles? I know current LEDs are powerful than before but they are more good for diffuse light (signals) or small spots (lanterns), but headlight normally requires more light. I hope If I get that option, I will not have to change it later for a normal bulbs... The Headlights that I saw like after market accessories are more than for good looking purposes than rather illuminate the road... Have you seen an effective aftermarket led headlight?

    Any comments?

    The Audi R8 and Lexus LS600h L are the only ones with LED headlights. The new RX450h will also feature them (coming out in Apr).

    There is a wide-beam halogen light that supplements the LEDs to give near-range illumination.

    The Prius LED headlights use multiple LEDs to put several overlapping spots on the road.

    I thought we were told in Detroit that there were 2 LED's for far illumination and 1 LED for near illumination. Halogen was for high beam.

    Oh, was the near-range illumination LED? I thought that was a halogen bulb. It looked yellower than the LEDs.

    I recall high beam is halogen, while near illumination is LED.
