What trim do you have? It could be port-installed depending on the trim, in which case it's not a quality control issue with factory-installed leather.

Gray is a color, not a trim. What trim do you have? Two (II), Three (III), Four (IV) or Five (V)?

So you're not even sure if you have factory-installed leather? There have been a few posts regarding quality control issues with port-installed leather found in the lower trims.

it is factory installed, im 100% sure. toyota replaced the back seat ,but the replacement is equally bad. i just don't know how to address the issue, i dealt with district service parts manager already and it was like you are in court proving your case.

If you're not sure what trim you have and can only assume it's a IV, then you can't be sure it's factory installed.

Fine. Keep in mind that dealer-installed isn't the same as port-installed.

The issue is , you bought it from toyota with installed leather, no mater who installed it. It came new with the car and they should stand behind it 100 percent period. End of story. Climb the latter until you find somebody that will take responsibility.
I have worked for Honda, Volvo and Infinity and never an issue with satisfying the customer.

I don't disagree with that, but the point is there have been quality control issues with port-installed leather that are not seen with factory-installed leather (judging from a number of posts here) so that's an important distinction to make. The OP did ask if anyone had similar concern about leather quality/fitment.

The leather on my Prius IV seems to be tearing at a few seams , shrinking to be too tight in several places.
I'm not sure how to check if it's port installed.

Port or Dealer installed leather is usually 3/36,000 miles, depending on the Regional or local Dealer policy and applies to Level II or III. Level IV and V came with factory Leather. Factory Leather is covered under normal warranty. You do not list your vehicle, but based on your date of membership as reference to purchase date, those are the rules. You will have to deal with legal definitions of normal wear though.

When I had my 2010 the Driver's side "leather" seat had what looked like a tear, but it was just the material had pulled away from the hooks that attach it. The dealer 'fixed it, but it happened again, so they got me a new seat. It cost me nothing (it was covered under warrantee) but the price listed was almost a thousand dollars! By the way it was factory installed and the stuff is not leather. I don't have the prius anymore, I now own a Volt, a really fantastic car.

If you had a 2010 IV or V, then it was factory-installed leather. Not sure which model year replaced the leather with Softex, but Softex wasn't used in 2010.

The description generally states 'leather seating surfaces', so, only the center insets are actually leather. The balance is 'pleather'.
