I saw a Prius v Five next to a Three today and noticed that the Five with the LED headlights has 2 bulbs in each headlight housing. The Three only has one bulb. I assume that LED lights must work differently so that the highbeams need a different bulb. Does anyone know the explanation for the 2 bulbs? How costly are the LED bulbs to replace down the road? Will they need to be replaced? And what is the color of the LED lighting? Is it a whiter than the normal headlights? I have not seen them operating in the dark yet and don't intend to be visiting a dealership that late!

    Thanks!

The style with one projector is not an LED headlamp. The LED headlamps require three sources to make the required beam output/intensity. One of the projectors is for distance one for short and there is a reflector that provides the beam width. In the picture above, you can see there is a reflector housing right above the two projectors. The highbeam/DRL is the same on both headlight models (reflector to the left of the projectors).

For 2010/11 there were three leds in each headlight housing. The two projector beams and one floodlight above the beams. For 2012 they improved upon the projector beams and got rid of the flood light led. The picture f8l showed is of the 'old' style led housing with the top floodlight.

Is this the new version for 2012 GenIII? Does the v use the same?

It's similar to the Gen 3. The overall housing is styled differently, but it is a dual bulb design.

Yup, a Foreign one, but that's it F8L. No, for now the Prius v is using 3 LEDd ones like the early Gen III since it was designed a while ago.

Hard to see the difference but here is my 2012 PiP:

It (The Prius v) is similar to the 2010/11 Gen III in that is has the 3rd led flood light which the 2012 Prius liftback and PiP do not have anymore.
