I have a 2010 Prius with LED on order. Here in this part of Europe the new A4 with that distinctive LED eyebrows is a common sight. But from what I've seen from the internet (here the new Prius has not even hit the show room yet), the LED system on the new Prius looks quite different. So what's the difference between them, and which one is better?

The LED's on the Audi are for daytime running type lights (or parking type lights not sure). The LED's on the Prius are for actual headlights, MUCH brighter.

There are 2 projector beams on the Prius, one for distance and one to fill in the left and right sides at a distance and then a flood LED to fill in in front of the car middle and side to side.

I'm guessing the Audi uses HID's for their headlights so I'd give the advantage imo to the Prius' LED's since they use less power and have a 15 year lifespan.

The LED decoration on the Audi and BMW is cool. Prius should have something similar to visually "set it off" from the rest of the pack when you first see it.

Anyone who can list which lamps that are LED on the 2010 Prius ? I know that headlights and brake lights are LED but how about interior lights, rear license plate, front/rear parking lights, turning lights (front/rear/in mirrors) ?

I've replaced the following bulbs (see here: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...-parking-lights-rear-license-plate-bulbs.html), and none were LEDs:
    fogs
    high beams
    front parking lights
    front & rear turn signals
    rear license plate

On the interior, the only ones that appear to be LED are the 2 front footwell lights and the one in the front overhead console that illuminates the shifter area.

    Thank you for answer.
It is strange that Toyota not have replaced all lamps with LEDs in the new Prius since the currents consumption for LED is so much lower which means less load on battery and therefor more mpg. Also LEDS are more convinient because lifespan is probably as long as existence of the car which also is good for safety reason; no more blown bulbs. Today you see more and more cars that have LEDs for turning signals, parking lights, license plate illumination a.s.o. The new Prius is supposed to be the most advanced car ever but not in adopting LEDs instead of old lamp bulb technology.

My brother in law's parents bought him an A4 (Audi and BMW are a status symbol for Chinese) around the same time I got my 2010. I didn't care for the exterior design. It's very boring. The interior is nice though, and the LED DRL's are pretty cool looking. That's what stood out for me.

Not too much for Chinese because MBs have been used as taxi cabs.

White LED's are expensive, and making a headlight with white LED's is new technology that car engineers are not yet accustomed to. Everything that is new, out of the ordinary, is more expensive.

Yes, you can easily think of all kinds of cool high tech things that the Prius should have, but in the end, it has to be sold.

Only in Germany and Singapore. That doesn't stop them from buying them in bulk.

    @Paradox

More and more of European states force to roll with the headlights lit permanently. It will be the case for Belgium in 2011.
