A single thread to consolidate all the opinions and wishes for the packages to be offered on the 2010 Prius.

From Evan's pdf the initial offering to the Prius Priority buyers will have 3 options

Silver .... which is roughly equivalent to the 2009 Pckg #4 with halogens but only 1 Door SKS.
Gold ...... which is roughly equivalent to the 2009 Pckg #6 with halogens.. plus...heated seats, Moonroof, Solar panels, Remote AC
Platinum.. doesn't exist today. It has all the features available on the 2010 [EDIT: NO Moonroof, Solar Panel, RAC ]

IMO there needs to be at least one package group below the Silver and one or two group(s) between Silver and Gold.
There might also be a demand for one package between Gold and Platinum.

Pckg 1 Steel wheels, standard audio, NO XM and NO BT, 1 Door SKS, Tilt/Tele SW, Adj Dr Seat
    Pckg 2 ( Silver )
Pckg 3 ( Silver ) .. plus Navi, but NO leather, heated seats, Moonroof, Solar Panel, RAC
Pckg 4 ( Silver ) .. plus leather, heated seats, Moonroof, Solar Panel, RAC but NO Navi
    Pckg 5 ( Gold )
    Pckg 6 ( Platinum )

I think the back up camera has to be included in Package 2 or lower.

To have an important safety feature like the back up camera moved from its present Package 2 threshold to a higher Package level threshold would be a huge step backwards.

Please note that Platinum does not contain all available 2010 features: i.e., moonroof and the solar panel.

5 needs to include LED headlights. Can't save those for just the top end unless they're a significant cost.

Whilst I agree, they'd also need to keep in mind the overall weight of the car vs. braking performance, etc. There may be safety reasons for the unloaded weight to keep overall gross weight in check.

If this were the case though, they'd also "need" to disclose the 1mpg penalty w/ the 17" rims.

I do agree wholeheartedly but I doubt they did this due to a safety concern. They are probably afraid if people get worse mileage than advertised if would be bad press but I am asking that since the people chosen for this particular pre order are informed individuals, allow us to make the decision if we want it 'fully loaded' knowing of the slight decrease we may see in mpg.

Then when I saw a picture of a European model configured the way I would like to see mine, (heck, it's even the same color inside and out as what I want) it put me on a mission to try and convince them to change their minds just this once...

I'm with you Boo - My Pkg 2, 2008 had exactly what I wanted - I would have been very disappointed w/o backup camera - and what a safety feature! Backing out of parking spaces it can see where the driver can't possibly see - BAD move removing it from the lower packagesToyota!

I hope they do allow it, as you should be able to get it truly fully loaded. You can have all the other tech, but their newest innovation the solar panel you can't have with it; I hope final general public packages are different..........Otherwise I don't know how I'm going to choose!

The Silver and Platinum features seem swapped WRT value of the metals :) I'm not even sure what the Platinum has that the Gold doesn't. Headlight washers?

    Pckg 1.5 - Pckg 1 plus 3 door SKS.
    Pckg 2.5 - Pckg 2 plus 3 door SKS.
    Pckg 3.5 - Pckg 3 plus 3 door SKS.

IMHO, it is ridiculous having 1 door SKS

Option on ANY car - LED headlights. I see no connection between these and any other system in the car that would preclude it being a generic option.

I want the package 7 (lets call it the "Diamond" package) loaded with everything. As others have astutely mentioned, its easiest to tout the virtues of the Prius technology when fully loaded. I really want ALL of the new electronic safety features, and I live in a hot sunny place, so I must have the solar cooling option. If weight is an issue, I can do without the 17" wheels if they weigh more.

Toyota - I guarantee you will have a large percentage of buyers who want a loaded Prius, especially here at PC.

They should have a "hard-core hypermiler" package.

I think the initial list of features that this package should have are:
15 inch wheels (or whatever smallest size wheel it comes with)
    solar panel
    led headlights
    no gps/bluetooth
