Mrs Barefoot got pulled over the other evening for lack of illumination on the back plate.

I pulled out the sockets inside the tailgate and sure enough, both bulbs had broken filaments.

They are the push in style bulbs, and the first one came right out and was easy to fix.

The passenger side one had gotten hot enough that the plastic melted to the base of the bulb. I had to break it and pick the remnants of the bulb out of the socket. It still accepted the new bulb and worked, but I'm not thrilled that it got hot in the first place.

I would replace these with LED lamp assemblies.
