I'm wondering why you asked this... did/do you?? It seems like a good deal to me. I don't have the JBL audio, but I guess all 2010s have the antenna for sat radio. I'm trying to figure out how I can have XM worked into our 2010 II without a little portable radio.

As has been pointed out before, the lifetime subscription is for a particular radio code. So you would be unlocking a specific radio for life. If you sell the car, the radio, etc, that lifetime unlock goes with it. Or is that not correct?

Unless it has changed you are allowed to change to 3 new radios with one lifetime subscription, but they charge you $75 each time you make the change.

I honestly believe in the next two years satellite radio will be free, albeit full of commercials. Sirius/XM is slowly spiraling downhill into bankruptcy, soon it'll succumb to companies wanting to pay Sirius to put their commercials in their broadcasts most likely.

So I wouldn't pay for a lifetime. Maybe two years at most.

I talked to XM about this and it is like someone else said keyed to a radio and not you as an individule. It can be changed to another radio BUT only if the one you have is broken or stolen, and at the decision of XM. And there is a charge for changing it in those two instances. You can find it on their website in the small print part of the agreement if you search very closely.

If it were like the other subscriptions and you could move it, I would have gone with that very quickly.

Then it must be either exclusive to XM, something new, or different agents will allow you to do different things. I have a lifetime with Sirius as do others I know. I have not done it but I know a few people who already got rid of an older radio, paid the money, and went to a new radio. Nothing wrong with their old one other tahn ot was old and they wanted a newer one. Sirius gave them no trouble...

Not for built-in tuners, only portable units, from the XM terms of service I read.

If you plan on keeping the car and radio longer than 3 years it's worth it. If not, I'd just go with a multi-year plan.

I'm all set to convert to lifetime Xm Everything plus the Best of Sirius on Sept. 16 for $499 plus a $60 and change royalty fee. I'll also have a 2 year sub to XM NAVTraffic for $3.99 a month ($95.76 total plus tax).

Wow, thanks Jayman, that sucks quite frankly... Just another reason they will not be getting my money. 1.It cuts in and out for no reason. 2.I will not pay that royalty fee. 3.I cannot switch it to my next 3 Prius' for $75 each time like I thought. Oh well...

We'll probably get the Lifetime w/Best of Sirius. I think it sucks that we still have to pay extra for the Sirius stations on XM. Some merger. I put off buying a new car for year because I thought by now they would be totally merged. Got tired of waiting.

When Howard Stern leaves it will be interesting to see what happens to the company.

Before Howard Stern signed up with Sirius, XM had almost 3X the subscribers that Sirius had. Sirus had less than 1 million subscribers. One year after Howard started on Sirius they jumped to 13 million subscribers. Two years after that Sirius bought XM.

If the company lost ½ of those 13 million subscribers after Howard leaves they will not survive. Only time will tell. I will not get a life time sub until this pans out.

I don't see how this offer can apply to us- it specifically states a "NEW" subscriber. If you purchased a Prius with XM radio, then you are already a subscriber by default and can't be a NEW subscriber.

My subscription expires on 12/31/09. I will be making a decision next week and calling XM to set something up. Has anyone gotten that $77/year promotional offer to work recently? I'll definitely be asking about that one.

On a side note, I have been a Sirius subscriber for about 6 years now. I will likely be giving that up once I have my "paid for" XM subscription because my portable Sirius JVC unit for Sirius has long since gone dead and I use my iPhone app/internet radio for listening to Sirius radio. The XM subscription includes the Sirius channels I most often listen to so I'll be saving like $12/month! ;)
