    Hello,

I've been looking at a 2012 Prius five with atp with 8200 miles priced at 22500.
Never had a hybrid before but 40+ mpg made me look. Always had sports cars or luxury cars.

Almost bought a new 2013 Prius in 2013, but bought the FRS instead. Only concern I have is road noise. It bothered me a some in the FRS.

I have road tested this one 40+ miles and it doesn't seem bad but I do read complaints on here about road noise. My daily driver is a Lexus LS430 I am trading in on the Prius. I know it will not be as quiet as the Lexus, but a little road noise never bothered me before. The FRS sounded like I could hear every pebble in the road.

I have a 50 mile round trip commute, about 45 min each way.

Is anyone bothered by road noise?

You should check out the CT200h if you want more quietness. Had one before and miss it.

You can always put in some DynaMatt.
    5 is tricked out
Offer 20k and see what happens
    You will get a 100k warentee !
LKA, Radar Cruise, Back up camera, Back up sensors, Blue tooth
If you drive it like the FRS you will only average 45mph

tyres make a difference as well, but the prius will never be 'quiet'. i love the quiet interior of my wifes hycam, but i love 65 mpg better than 45.(y)

You might want to rent one for a week and see how you like it. Going from a LS430 to a Prius five is like........well apples and oranges.

I think I can deal with more road noise for double the mirage on regular instead of premium.

Has anyone owned or test drove a Scion FRS and compared the noise to a Prius?

Going from a Lexus ES to my Prius was a bit of an adjustment for me. The road noise is my biggest complaint. I came very close to buying a new IS because the ride is so much better, but it would cost me $200 more per month in gas and $50 more per month for insurance. So I would rather save my money. The goodies that come with the ATP are really nice though! :) like others mentioned, I suggest you rent a Prius and really get a good feel for it and take it on your commute and see how it fits for you.

Did you look at the 200H? I think I'm still leaning towards the Prius 5. The roads on my commute have no potholes. All smooth Florida multi-lane roads.

Going to drive the Prius again tomorrow, maybe home.

If you compare the interior luxuries of a 200h and a Prius five, there is really no comparison. The leather in the Prius is not that plush, there is also tons of plastic all around you.

I never felt the Prius Five offered the luxury that it portrays.

Actually, I did. I drove an IS250 and a CT200h back to back. The ride seemed too similar to my Prius to justify the purchase. It was a little bit quieter but the ride quality was about the same (they both have 17" rims) and it felt much more cramped, but it had much higher quality materials. LA's freeways are pretty rough and the IS was great at smoothing the bumps out so if I was going to get a new car, that would have been it.

That seems like a good price and very low mileage! I just deal with the road noise by turning the radio volume up. The JBL sound system is pretty good.

I definitely agree with you, it doesn't feel at all like a $35k car!

    Thanks for the info.
I really think I'll close the deal on the Prius tomorrow.

If you want quiet why not look at a Camry Hybrid, Camry's are pretty quiet with some good touring tires on.

:)Congratulations on your Prius 5. Smart move going with the Prius. I gave up a 2011 Lexus IS for my 2012 Prius PIPA. I like the change and the challenge of driving a Prius, and especially a PIP. Very few cars have the options of a Prius 5 w/ATP (possibly your LS430). Enjoy your Prius 5.
