Just checked with Costco in Warrenton Oregon. The tire
dept advised the Defender in 195x65x15 is available for about
$115.00 each and there is a $70 rebate available now.

Looks like this tire will have at least a 80,000 miles tread life
and it is called a fuel efficient tire, unknown if it will deliver the
same mpg increase as the Energy Saver tire.

Too many unknowns right now. Mpg could be good or mediocre. The mileage is good but the price is very high unless you get the rebate. We need to see some testing on this tire.

+1, I was hoping to get some feedback on the Defender before I had to purchase a new set, but alas, time ran out. Still, its going to have to be a great tire to beat the Energy Saver. I look forward to hearing about the real world performance with this tire.
