My 75,000 mile warranty ends in less than 140 miles. Tonight when I started the car to leave work, the monitor came on...the basic framework was there, but no temp, no mpg, only how many minutes the car had been on. The temp screen said the air conditioner was not plugged in (the heater was working fine), the audio screen said that the audio was turned off (it wasn't). I have a trip planned, I was supposed to leave tomorrow morning, 300 miles. So, I drove right to the dealership, it was late on V-Day evening (8:30pm) I didn't expect anyone to be there. To my surprise the maintenance dept was still open. I explained what was happening and that I had the update several years ago which changed my odometer by about -3,000 miles. He said they go by what it's showing now, what it would have been WHEW! He checked with a Prius tech who was still there, he said it sounded like I needed a new screen. The maintenance manager told me he thought the warranty would cover the screen, so long as that was what the problem is. It's a difference in price of $50 for extended warranty work vs at least $1,000 if it weren't under warranty (that's less than 140 miles away). Does anyone have any experience with this? Advice? Help!
An early 2004. I just found the thread to my problem. It's the MFD thread. A lot of early 2004 and 2005's seem to have had this problem. Because I'm still under my extended warranty I "should" be able to get the MFD replaced for the cost of the deductible, $50.00 Whew!
