We got her the car because she needed dependable transportation for work and school... and the pos ford focus she bought died.
Looks like we'll be getting out some more coins, she didn't have comp... because her broker advised her against it.

I didn't ask her about her insurance because she is an adult...

    I know better now...

86 Cressida... so it wasn't a lot of coins, but it did have a new set of P4's on it... and it didn't have any rust, dents, or missing parts...

She's parking the boyfriends car in the garage now... and borrowing the wife's Voyager until she gets another ride...
Just great... another expense when I'm trying to close on a house...

WHat bothers me, is she is really mad that she had her work shoes in the car and now she has to go and get more shoes... I'm thinking - I just gave you $3 stacks in March for that ride... and now you're knock knock knocking on my door again... and it ain't going to be as cheap as your shoes.

For a car that old, buying an old fashion club would have been a better investment than comp insurance.

Perhaps implying that she should buy her own car is in order at this point.

Well... it doesn't look like the car fairy is going to return her Toyota...

The car did have an alarm, which she said was set... the neighbors nor her heard it go off when the car was taken from in front of her home.

And she actually pays me back for getting the car she had... she doesn't have to qualify for a note with me, I know she's good for it... she doesn't have to pay 10+% interest with me, I don't need to make a profit off my children... she works full time in a local credit union 8-5 and takes two courses at night working to get her accounting degree (later her CPA)... she is a very responsible young woman, and I am happy I have the means and am able to assist her when the chips are down...

I didn't know she didn't have comp insurance though... I think she sees the value in it now, and will include that coverage in her next policy.

What I don't like are indulgent parents that buy or hand down cars that are only a few years old. Even worse, replacing them due to a wreck that was the kid's fault. This here is just a case of bad luck.

Suggestion: look for a high mileage Camry of 92-95. Arguably the most reliable model+years of a car that Toyota has ever made.

I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't get around to removing this coverage, collision too, from the household's '97 until yesterday. Should have happened several years ago.

Different situation, of course, as it can easily be replaced without assistance from the Bank of Mom/Dad.

Sorry to hear about your daughter's ride (I had an '89...great car!)
The really bad part isn't the 3K....it's finding a dependable ride for 3K!

    Good Luck!

Oh yeah.....forget about the club. They don't work worth a crap, and there's an almost 100-percent chance that, after about two weeks it will just be rattling around in the trunk.

Sorry to hear about that. There are too many scumbags in this world. You sound like a good dad.

    WOO HOOO... good news...

They found my daughter's car... it isn't wrecked... the tires are still on the car... and it started after a jump... she is all :cheer2:

She did lose what was in the glove box, a nice leather jacket and most of her shoes though... but it is now safely in her garage.

I'll be taking it to my mechanic tomorrow to make sure it's still good, and to verify that the friggen alarm works.

Better a few hundred dollars to ensure it is good to go, than having to find another good little car...:rockon::rockon:

    Thank you universe.

Be sure the alarm has a starter kill relay, or better put in a hidden switch to cut off the starter.

Yay!!! If you buy her a club, make sure she keeps it in the trunk while driving. During an accident it can become a projectile.

Ummmmm... Good to see you're on the forum...

But ummmmm... we got that car back in 2011... sold it later, and she bought a POS Ford Focus... sold it... and she's driving the Plymouth Minivan again.

She wants me to give her my Prius, and for me to go get a new one.

May I make a suggestion Bra... do look at the first and last posts in any thread here. Especially in Fred's.

    Have a good day
