My key will not unlock the door (smart function). It will only start the car when inserted into the slot. Does it need a new battery? Does it need to be replaced? My husbands key still works. Both keys have the silver logo and is from a 2005 Prius. Thanks for your information.

A 2005 car is about at the age when the battery in the fob will be running out. It's fairly easy to change yourself. You might as well change both batteries while you are at it, since the other one will probably die soon also.
