So, here's the deal. I go to my local KING TOYOTA Dealership, to get the oil changed in my Prius, and to get a new set of floor mats (TOYOTA may make great cars that last forever, but when it comes to floor mats, they wear out. And I take care of my floor mats!)

While I am waiting for the oil change, Anthony, my dealer (he has sold me three TOYOTA'S; soon four!), comes over, and asks me what I think of the new Cruiser they have. I tell him, it's nice, but not for me. Now, if you have a Camry Hybrid, I would love to see that.

And so, he shows me this one...And next thing I know, I'm trading in my '05 SCION XA which only had 10,585 miles on it.

Nice. Oh, and I kept the Prius.

What do you think about the trunk space? My wife likes the look of the HyCam...

Can you include some interior pictures, driving impressions, MPG, etc. I'm really interested in this car.

We just picked up our Camry Hybrid on Monday and it is very nice. My wife is averaging about 37.2 right now (on same roads, I get about 46) but the trunk is half the size of our 2004 Camry! A little disappointing but the batteries had to go some where! Bluetooth is standard. The ride is plush and quite. I wouldn't want to own one, I'm more of the Prius type, but my wife loves her new Camry!

MPG: 38.8 in the city, 37.1 on the HWY. Which is around what the sticker of 40/38.

What a quiet car it is; the quietest car I have ever driven. And yet, one of the fastest, for what it is. 0-60 in about 8 seconds, maybe 9.

Comfortable as all get out. You feel the luxury; of course I got all the bells and whistles. And you can do the famous override that also allows you to dial out of the touch screen whilst driving.

8 seconds says the brochure. 7.3 says Road & Track.

I knew it was something like that. I was not quite sure, since I just glanced at the watch when I tried it out. Once.

    :p

I think the trunk space is huge. But I come from the small trunk space of the SCION xA. And I think while the PRIUS can hold more, what with the way the seats go all the way down, the HyCam has more depth.

I actually tried the Prius in GT4 and yeah.. it does 0-100 in ~10 seconds.. so 0-60mph will be 10.x just eyeballing. hehehe

Hmm.. the thing is, the gen 5 Camry has a HUGE boot. I find it hard to believe that both the Prius and the Camry have similiar sized cargo areas but I'll just assume that the Camry is deeper and better shaped?

Congrats on the car purchase. I test drove one of the Camry Hybrids recently. My first impression: Nice. It's a lot quieter than the prius. It needs new wheels though. I see yours came with rims. The stock wheels have the same problem the prius did. Get better tires, and you a better ride.

Anyways... I'm thinking of getting one. I have to see how feasable it is.

That's a nice ride. My 17 year old son loves the Hybrid Camry. Do you know any rich people that would like to give one to my son as a 'College Grant'?

Yeah. If they do that, can they help me pay off this one? I'll mention them here.

I got at one point today, 54.4 (or was it 54.6?) MPG. I did not capture that moment on film, but I did get this moment:

How cool is that? And that is with my rims!

on a 1200 dollar a month income? impossible. If i land a higher paying job.. then sure. as is, that accomplishment will take a while at my current job. I've been raised from 8 dollars only 6 months ago. It's retail.

i've lowed myself to retail :( lol.. don't anyone get offensive by this statement either.

ouch. But.. dang at least you've given me some inspiration. Working retail and you can afford a Prius? I hope you do have other things in life working well! Keep it up!

yeah.. retail. lowest paying job i've ever had. i should be making 21 an hour again.. that would be nice.

when i was doing real estate, i got my prius. It was a one an only chance at my age. my grandfather co signed, and now i have it. i work hard to keep it in my hands. since the car will out last the payments.. it's a worthy liability ( vs asset ) i plan on keeping it for a while.. unless i can buy a camry with cash.

Have you considered getting a college degree or going to technical school so that you'd have some marketable skills?
