Those of you with the Nav system, what do you think about the new voice?

I don't have my car yet, so I can't really say. What I will say, however, is that someone really dropped the ball not finding a way to offer a version using Majel Barrett-Roddenberry's voice. C'mon, Toyota. Learn how to exploit your demographic.

Mate, are you an Australian by the way? Wonder if one can get an Australian accent in a Garmin brought from there... that would be cool!

I used to have a Garmin too, and was able to choose from 20 something different accents/languages. Including a british, australian and a few others.

Unfortunately, I have not seen a way to change it in the OEM Navi. However, the more I use it, the more I love the system.

New voice is as others have said, less condescending. Text to speech is rather funny when pronunciations go wrong, but "generally" matches the NAV Lady's voice.

Nah, I lived next door to an Autralian friend of mine and my ex GF is South African so I tend to pick up their words and in the case of the neighbor, it's been nearly a decade but I still use words I picked up from him after so many conversations about women while sitting on the balcony with a bottle of wine. lol

I have a IV, without Nav, but perhaps the voice is the same as the Bluetooth Phone Lady. Question: Can you adjust the volume of the ring tone? It seems pretty loud to me. The radio fades away (grabbing one's attention by itself, really) and then this loud "RING". It would be great to adjust it down, and even change the ringtone... is that possible?

LOVE the idea of having the "computer" voice from Star Trek! I would pay for that.. what fun!

Unfortunately she died recently. So it likely won't happen.

The only volume control that I have seen for the BT Phone is on the screen when you start to get a call (or dialed and connected to an outbound call), and you can control the volume there. Does that also adjust the ringer volume?

That said, I recall someone else here posting that the sensitivity of the mic can be adjusted, and I am not sure how to do that, but would love to know.

I have a IV with NAV on order, and noticed during the test drive that the NAV voice was a deeper female voice than my previous Toyota's with NAV. And different topic, the voice command seems to work pretty well. In my Highlander and other Toyotas the voice command was highly unpredictable, to say the least.

The nav voice is one of the first things I mentioned to the salesman. The new one is O.K., but I liked the previous one first, who was more pleasant and sexier and even sounded more like Hal in 2001.

This is my first Nav system so I do not have anything to compare it against. I do not have a problem with the Nav lady's voice. It works for me.

True. I find myself oddly attracted to the Gen II Nav lady (Jill).

The 2 voices will take some time to get used to. A computer doesn't sound right if it doesn't sound like Majel. On the bright side, it doesn't sound like HAL.
