"(CBS) MINNEAPOLIS On March 30, Minnesota Timberwolves center Eddie Griffin was drunk and masturbating when he crashed his luxury SUV into a parked Suburban outside a store in Minneapolis, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday by the man whose Suburban was hit in the crash
    ...
Key questions are why Griffin wasn't tested for alcohol and why the officers drove him out of the city to his home in St. Paul. Griffin also received tickets for not having a license and inattentive driving..."

There's a video in the upper right that I missed the first time around...

Well at least it's 2 gas hogs off the road (at least temporarily). What if it had been a car with a family in it??

Too bad he wasn't masturbating in a Prius. Then the story would just be that much funnier. Seriously though, other than just being a funny story, why make this into some sort of anti-SUV thing? That makes no sense.

BTW, maybe some people don't realize that these NBA guys won't FIT in any other type of car. They pretty much have to drive an SUV.

By this reasoning there must've not been any MBA players or really tall people before SUV's. Doubt it. Large American cars, vans, and any convertable would do. Same reasoning goes to large families. They DID exist way before SUV's so the excuse is specious.

OR...Let's look at it another way if you disagree with my post so far. THEREFORE SUV's have CREATED TALL PEOPLE!!!

It's early in the morning and my brain is not fully functioning. Perhaps there is a third cause and effect I'm not thinking of.

There is that one NBA guy that they show on some commercials (for Garmin GPS) that drives a restored 1970s USA convertible, ya know the kind that got 8-12MPG on leaded premium

'Course the thought of Shaquille O'Neil in a Miata makes me smile....

Actually, its only about $300 to have the seat modified to accomodate tall people. Several of the Boston Celtics and Patriots drive Prii. I weigh close to 400lbs, and I can fit in a Prius.

Poor bastard. I actually feel kind of bad for him. He will never live this down. I love how at the end of the video the convenience store guy is complaining about how his civil rights were violated... his right to an undented Suburban, I suppose.

Do you mean to tell me that a professional athlete actually admits to this crime?

I am so shocked...there are so many excuses he could have used

    1. My cousin was driving
    2. The brakes failed
    3. The accelerator stuck
    4. The lights blinded me
    5. I got a cramp
    6. But Shaq did it and it was OK
    7. I was distracted by my hooker (oops, I mean my escort)

Any others you can think of? :D

His Surburban was pretty damaged. The civil rights bit I think was because Griffin admitted he was drunk and because the cops seemed to have given him preferential treatment.

"Key questions are why Griffin wasn't tested for alcohol and why the officers drove him out of the city to his home in St. Paul. Griffin also received tickets for not having a license and inattentive driving."

If it were any other person who did the same thing, I'm sure the cops would've given him a sobriety test and if found drunk, thrown him in the slammer.

no doubt for anyone else that would have happened unless of course, the cop pulled his brother or friend over. then the same would have happened. its human nature to help out people you know or think you know (celebrities and the like)

Maybe someone could come up with a mod where you run a line directly off the main battery so you could get the same results without using your hands. Much safer!

How the heck did the cops and media know this? Did this guy actually admit it?? Brag about it? Or was there, um, evidence?

Click the link in the OP and watch the video. Store surveilance camera footage where he says he's drunk... I suspect the TV station edited out the part where he describes what he was doing.

Later he denied it...through his lawyer. He denied it because the store owner is sueing him in civil court. The store owner has to sue him through civil court since the police didn't do their jobs, I.E. test and cite him for drunk driving and arrest him.
