    Hey everyone...

I recently switched jobs with a long commute. Traded in my gas guzzling 15mpg minivan for a 2010 Prius....kicking myself for not getting one sooner, lol.

Only owned it for 4days, 300miles, and a half a tank of gas. Seem to be averaging 54.2mpg...

Joined the forums to learn how to increase my mpgs. :)

Welcome aboard and great numbers btw! Just take a couple of weeks to get familiar with the car and then read all about extending those few extra miles. I was too distracted when I got mine nearly three years ago now by trying to do just that that I forgot to have fun. :)

I'm a noobie 2010 1st Prius owner too. I'm very impressed so far. On one stint, I got 65.3 mpg. I've only had the car for 4 days now, and I'm lovin it! Thanks PriusChat for all the tips.:D

We just got our 2010 and kicking myself for not doing it sooner. Just built a new house and had a 220V 50 Amp plug put in the garage. Looking at the new plug in's that keep going after they run out of a charge :)

For great MPG, make sure all tires are set at 40PSI (cold) and drive at or a little below the speed limit, and drive electric whenever possible. My two cents on what has worked for me. Have fun and enjoy the money savings at the end of each month

I haven't been able to back up the earlier 65 mpg mark, but I have been pretty consistant @ 58-59 over a week of commuting to work. Considering the hilly terrain, I'm very happy with that.

Make sure you join fuelly.com, because your actual mileage will probably be about 5% less. The CONS. gauge is notorious for reporting mileage higher that actual (miles/gals). If you did get 65 mpg on a trip, you are on the right path. My best for a 35 mile commute from work was 75.3 mpg.

Just try various techniques you read about or watch on the videos and see what works best for you!
