Hi everyone, After waiting six months, my wife and I are the proud owners of a 2009 package 6 in black. I have a question about the extended warranty. Typically, we do not purchase these things as they are a rip-off but the salesperson made a pretty good case due to the advanced technology. Does anyone have an opinion on purchasing? Ultimately, we did not but can go back and do it within the next day or two. Thanks!
You made your first post almost three hours ago and you still haven't been properly welcomed! WELCOME TO PRIUSCHAT!!!!!!! To answer your question, I didn't get the extended warrenty. The dealership tried to sell me one that was more than twice as expensive as the one that was advertised here. You can buy one at any time before you hit the three year / 36,000 mile mark. It's been discussed in other threads, but not much lately.

If I want snow, I drive up into the local mountains, frolic, then head down to the beach for the daily Bikini Babe events, and the nice ocean breezes.!! I have a bookmark to this link: Google Advanced Search Type "Extended Warranty" into the search box and get ready to read for an hour. You'll find lots of info including how you can get a genuine Toyota extended warranty, same one the dealer sells, via a special arrangement negotiated by the owner of this site. Our Hybrid Car Club of America (HCCOA) local chapter lists our meetings there. We are based in Madison. Not sure exactly where you are in the state but if you are in our region feel free to drop by! It's a great place to ask and answer questions as well as learn a thing or two... oh and have fun! We meet the 2nd Saturday of the odd numbered months. And if you are in the Milwaukee area, the next Milwaukee Hybrid Group meeting will be December 20 at the Oak Creek Public Library: Milwaukee Hybrid Group Homepage By the way, I may be one of the only schlubs on this Board to have bought an extended warranty from the dealer for my 2008 package 2, (maybe the only one to admit it ) but given my experience with the vehicle I traded in (2000 Ford Escort), an extended warranty is sometimes well worth the expense (unfortunately I didn't have one on the Ford). I only had a year or two's experience with Toyotas of any flavor at that time so thought it was a prudent decision. No regrets, even if I'll never need it.
