Whew, it's been quite a week! We hope everyone has enjoyed the photos of the new Prius. And as we expected, there's certainly a good deal of discussion and quite a wide range of opinions. But frankly, we think there are a few more surprises you haven't seen yet...

So, we just wanted to take this opportunity to see if our Prius Pioneers are still looking for a few more clues. Go ahead and take our poll. We'll check back on Monday to see the results.

?

Do you want Toyota to post more teaser pictures?

Poll closed Oct 20, 2008.
Yes! Grainy distorted shots are nice, but I'd like to see some details please. 89 vote(s) 85.6%
No! I've seen all I need and I can't stand teasers. I'll check it out in January. 15 vote(s) 14.4%

Re: New Prius Teaser Poll--You Decide

Ignore those voices of discontent and keep posting. We'd certainly like clues to more significant details than what you've posted thus far though, esp. after seeing the unauthorized shots.

I think many can't understand why you can't/won't just release all details now instead of teasing/nursing us along until Jan....but that doesn't mean we don't want you to feed us more if you're unwilling to give us all.
  2. Rokeby
The "details" that we'd most like to see are the technical ones. :D

While you're playing fast and loose with the pix, I'm thinking about
    the new Insight.

How about a third choice on the poll: Cut the crap and cut to the chase.

I'd rather be teased than ignored, given the choice, but I'd really prefer more than an occasional peek. Nobody wants to be known as just a tease. ;)

As a VERY potential customer next spring/summer, I'd like to know as much as I can about the car prior to deciding what I'm going to buy. Heck, it's why I frequent this site as much as I do....and I don't even own the car....yet...
  5. DeadPhish
Tempt me to trade in my 2005 which by then will have ~120,000 miles on it. I'm aiming at 250,000 miles but if the Gen 3 is so much better I might pull the trigger earlier.

I'd like to see some more pictures but Toyota, really, your customers are not fools so don't treat us as such. Show us some pictures that actually have substance; Not just a picture of an open/close button or a start up screen.

I'm very happy with Toyota quality and how well their technology performs, so much that I ordered a 2010 to replace my 2006 2 months ago so I can be the first on the list in my area. So for me the pictures won't make or break my purchase decision... What I'm saying is at least tell you customers what they can expect in the car especially so they can tell their dealerships exactly how they want their car equipped. Not all dealers are created equal (Mine is lost quite frankly, all they know is take the money and they'll sell you a car) and quite frankly if not for sites like this and the information found here my dealership would surely screw up my order. When I got my 2006 I went in with more info and even pictures of the minor refreshers done to the 06' before even they knew about it. That's just sad...

I would like to see more photos but like paradox said, something more substantial. I haven't seen the open/close button in the grainy pics but then again it's a black interior so it's hard to see buttons and it's grainy.

Thanks to the Toyota Team for sharing! Appreciated.

C'mon all--the fun is always in the anticipation/chase. This is like Santa Claus/Christmas for adults.
You don't hate Santa because you don't find out what you get until Christmas... Sure you can shake it, weigh it, and guess. But you can't find out until Christmas.

    Don't hate Santa.....

Dumb question. What does Toyota have to lose by not showing more photos? Toyota's 'real' competition - Honda - has already shown their version of the Prius. At this late date, would Honda make any last minute changes to their Hybrid? Of course, Toyota knows more about launching a new car than the rest of us and possibly leaking out too many details (early) might damp down some of the excitement when the Gen III Prius finally hits the showrooms next year and/or kill off 2009 Prius sales. But the 2009 Prius still appears to be selling well and possibly by showing off the 2010 Prius, Toyota could pick up quite a few early orders (deposits) for the 2010 Pirus before customers have a chance to check out the 2010 Honda Insight hybrid.

I would like to see more and make educated guesses. How about give prices to those guessed it right? That would be more fun!!

Re: New Prius Teaser Poll--You Decide

exactly... but please show us bigger details than single button, and small logo that shows on LCD. It still does not hav to be complete car, but things like shifter, headlights, etc, etc.

and p.s. it is not as if your first 2 pics were high res either...

I agree with what many others say here. If I have to choose among the two options, I suppose I'd say 'Yes,' but it doesn't exactly fill me with excitement. I'd rather that there was more information was provided so that we could spend the next 2-3 months talking about how awesome the next version of the Prius will be and discussing the new, great features that are coming. Up until this point, the "official" shots have been rather confined to the sphere of minutiae.

I guess that my answer is that I will certainly look at any of the pictures that are posted here, but I'm not going to be rushing here every Monday to look at them.

Question of clarification before I take the poll ... are these "teaser" pics REAL pics or fake pics ? Because if they are not the real Toyota pics and someone is just saying "hey, checkout this pic I just made on my computer!," then I think it completely changes the poll. So, if someone doesn't mind clarifying this for me, it would be appreciated. Thank you. :)

Spring 2000 was very exciting. There were few photos available back then. But they really made a difference... helping a lot with the loooong delivery wait.

Spring 2003 brought that very same exhilaration feeling back all over again... and it was totally worth it that time too.

Fall 2008 is turning about to be a repeat of the same experience. Bring'em on! Teaser photos are great.

I went through trying to order '07 Touring Prius early August 2006, so I could get what I wanted on my second Prius and maybe qualify for the tax credit. I emailed, I called, and I re-emailed several dealers. I of course got a different answer from each party that would answer my correspondence. I was told you cannot order one until the dealer receives the code sheet. He would not take my order. Then would not answer my other faxes or phone calls. I was trying to buy where I was getting my '04 Prius serviced. The internet salesmen want to tell you reasons you won't get the car you want. First there is this long list of other orders ahead of (you)me. I said I don't want a '06 Prius. I want the new 2007 Touring model. They want to try to switch to some other nice car they have in stock.

When I said I already have a Prius but I want other features, color, leather, back up camera, ect. They just don't call you back or answer your email. One salesman that I emailed a request for (one I had built) on their website. He emailed he would beat any deal by $1000.00 so I called and asked did he have that car I chose to build on their website. He emailed back he could get it in 3 day but the cost was $3,000 over full window sticker. He laughed and said well he tried. No sale. Then I went through several salesmen's sales pitches, It would take 2 or 3 month to get an ordered Prius. After about 20 different salemen trying to switch me. I emailed one more dealer. I filled out the order list of what I wanted. He logged on to their source list, then emailed me back the color and equipment I wanted would be in in 3 days at the price the website built.

I had never had such a hard time to order a car. And I have bought hundreds of cars in my 50 years of buying and selling cars. If Toyota did not build such a good car. And if I had not happened on the last Toyota salesman, I probably would not be a repete customer.

I will probably hold off for a plugin hybrid this time.

tease me squeeze me and make me ... oh no... sorry I thought I was on yahoo chat then.
I wouldn't mind a girl teasing me if I knew she would come across at the end of the night and that goes for Toyota as well, tease away, I'm firming up ...

... on my decision to get the new Prius.

What did you think I was going to say??
  18. Rybold
What if you get back to her car after the party, and she is driving a new 2010 Prius? Would that be "premature?" :D
  19. lovemygreys
Bring on the pics! There's no such thing as too many Prius pictures :D
