We finally took delivery of our new Prius v I-Tech on Wednesday this week and we're both very impressed with it. Lovely to drive, so much technology built in. Pretty comfortable too although haven't been on a really long drive yet, no more than 30 minutes at once so far.

Love the HUD, the pre-collision system (it's already kicked in twice) and the radar cruise control.

And deceptively big! From a distance it doesn't look that much bigger than our Corolla hatch, but up close it's a lot higher and you definitely feel high up once in the drivers seat.

We hope it lasts us another 15 years like the Corolla Conquest did :)

Edit: Oh, and we took it to a deserted carpark the first night to play around with the parking assist and get a feel for the size of it and the distances in the reversing camera.

Nice motor. Does the little un like it?

My kids love the Prius, especially the silent running.

Yep, he loves it and was so glad it arrived before his 7th birthday (which was Friday). So he sort of considers it his birthday present :) It's mainly from transporting his friends that we thought we may need the larger car!

Congrats! Nice wheels! I bought my Gen II (used with 83k - a "baby" in Toyota terms) at the end of Jan. as a replacement for my 1993 Corolla DX Wagon (292k miles - failed state inspection  ) - I really LOVE my Prius! More space and great fun to drive! Good luck with the new toy!

You get all the gadgets of the US trim level 5 with advanced tech package PLUS HUD! I'm so envious.

Do you have electric adjustment for driver's seat? If you (like myself) have the manual seat adjustment (except for power lumbar), then I recommend that you spend some time playing with seat height adjustment lever. It can really change the forward/backwards pitch of the seat and in turn the pressure on thighs and lower back.

After lots of practice, I got good at setting up manually for a parking space then when I select reverse it puts a blue rectangle on the parking spot (most of the time) and I get to ride the brake into the spot. If it does not put the blue rectangle in the right spot then I give up and park manually. It just takes too long to press buttons to get it to adjust a wrong blue rectangle when I'm waiting in the parking lot with traffic about.

    Enjoy.

No, just manual for seat adjustment other than lumbar support. So the same as yours. My wife and I drive about 50/50, so we try to pick a position that we don't have to move it much (other than forwards or backwards).

As far as I know the major differences between the US and everywhere else V is (we only have 2 levels in Australia, the base and the I-Tech)
    - 7 Seats
    - HUD (standard on base model as well)
    - li-polymer battery
    - Electric folding mirrors
    - Spare tyre (is that not standard in US?)

I-Tech is equivalent of level 5 I assume with extras like:
    - twin moon roofs
    - Sat Nav
    - JBL 8 speaker 7" touchscreen
    - Pre-collision system
    - Parking assist system
    - Radar cruise control
    - Softex seats
    - Seat heaters
    - Auto-dimming rear view mirror
    - Headlamp washers
    - LED headlights

Congrats and enjoy. We picked ours up in Sydney on 11th of March, just base level model. We feel the same as you. Big and comfortable.
We've taken it Sydney-Newcastle-Sydney (40km each way shorter than Hobart to Launceston) for the day. Went through Swansea so not freeway the whole way. It looooves long trips. When we got home after 2 hours in the car, I felt like I'd had a 2 hour yoga session of just sitting and relaxing. The cruise control stuck on the speed down all the big hills. I didn't have to brake, then reset the cruise,. Just... drive! The boys (both just under 6 foot tall) had so much room in the mid row back seats. Very comfortable. Get it out there! And don't expect a big fuel bill. Used less petrol than our Gen 11 2007 i-Tech for the same trip and luggage!

Thanks! Yes trying to plan a trip or two in a month or so. We've got a wedding to attend, and relatives to ferry around before then (maybe a day trip or two for them).

I worked out I could get 7 people from Melbourne to Sydney for $67. Compare that to the cost of flights!

We too bought the v for our kids friends. The only trouble with the 3rd row is that one day I wouldn't mind expanding the battery pack to 4 or 6 kW. The third row will limit the ability to do this.

Yeah, we plan to take the v, lowercase v, across bass strait at some point for an extended holiday. Will save on rental car that we normal have to get :) (although the ferry can be more expensive than flights to Melbourne)

Congrats! Would definitely be curious to hearing how the relatives think of the 3rd row. It's been a request here in North America to have a 7-seat hybrid vehicle.

Thanks! My wife had 7 people in the car earlier in the week (4 adults, 3 kids) and it was fine, although obviously there were kids in the 3rd row.

Yesterday we went for an afternoon drive to Orford on the east coast. About 167km return with a few 300m+ climbs along the way so not easy on fuel consumption. Averaged 5.3l/100km for the trip.
