Neither site says how you actually get into it.

Beam me into the car, Scottie.

ahh, like an insight but with the all important 4 passenger capacity. very nice, i doubt that its acceleration will be enough to satisfy the typical lead footed american

    From the Loremo.de website:
    Intersting.
  4. V8Cobrakid
is that a 20 second 0-60 for the normal model?

It's 2+2 so its going to be very cramped in the back if other cars with that denomination are anything to go by. More like two people+two people with no legs.

As a one person commuting machine though, it looks great. Available in 2009, they say. As a diesel, it may have problems with NOx/PM regulations in certain parts of the world (USA/Japan), but those may change by then I suppose.

If the car is as safe as they suggest, hopefully its design can inspire other car manufacturers to make weight reductions. I've always thought that the Prius is the weight it is because of safety requirements. Like the NOx/PM regulations, it's not necessarily what is "safe" in objective terms but what the government deems to be suitable. The manufacturers have to play by the rules after all.

It is already 2006. Wasn't CA supposed to have clean diesel now? Guess it is another vaporware law...

If it ever happens, then I want one too.

    Neat car,

I would be afraid to drive it at only 450kg a semi would pass you, and the next morning the state police would find you off in the woods wrapped around a tree trapped in the car with no doors..

But a cool lookin ride none the less....
  8. slortz
Would love to see it made, but like the Aptera, I'm skeptical that it will ever come to pass.
Actually, this car does look a bit more promising--at least the website looks much more professional and apparently they have presented a concept vehicle at a Geneva auto show.

Man! Would sure make a sexy EV. Why are they using any liquid fuel in the thing at all?

Here's another "car of the future"...today!

    http://www.theaircar.com/
It runs off of compressed air. Surprisingly, out of the Aptera, Loremo, and this MDI car, the MDI seems to be the closest to current reality.

I especially love this though..."Fundamentally, the vehicle is a simple, light urban car, composed of a fibre-glass or hemp fibre..."
Get ready for, "Dude, Who Smoked My Car."

I recall seeing a video clip of a car made from hemp (rope, not dope) in maybe the forties. Sledge hammers were bouncing off with no apparent damage. It was obvious this would be very unsafe - can you imagine everyone driving around as if they were invincible? :)

    The ultamate beach babe cruiser:

Now this would be cool, and it sounds more fesible and affordable..
What would make it even better is if the motor replinished the compressed air and genrated EV!

Would be self sufficant excluding service on the brakes/tires/ bulbs/ fluids.
But I'm sure the Greed thing would have to come into play and ruin it..

    WHAT A CONCEPT though!!!

This could make a beautiful addition as a second car to my Prius. Personally I would probably Slurge for the GT 50hp instead of the standard 20hp.

Check out how you get IN and OUT of the car !!!  NO DOORS. Incredible. Eye turner.

The tires are as skinny as our spare tires. :) I am worry about the seal where the windshield connects with the roof. Potential water leak.

Where is the key hole then? Perhaps SKS?

If you want to get in the car in the rain, the seats will definately get wet. LOL

This is the kind of silliness of design common to "futuristic" cars. Nobody ever intends to build them, so they can make them as impractical as they like, as long as it looks "cool."
  16. DaveinOlyWA
man you aint kidding. great car in rain country... hehehe... ya 2009... hmmm
  17. Kablooie
Ah yes. ANOTHER amazing electric car that doesn't exist.

How many are there now? 10? 20?

And not ONE can you buy. (And estimated prices all seem to be 50K and up.

I'm losing all faith in electric cars. Seems like the golf cart is as far as the technology can go in reality.
  18. DaveinOlyWA
well not all the EV's are as bad. i am getting one that is a niche product for sure. still has 35 mph limit, but it still fits 80% of my driving needs that i have tracked over past 2 years.

will not know if its a good deal until i drive it since only a few have been sold in the state, but was lucky enough to see the very first Zenn delivered to the City of Tumwater, WA. and yes i saw it frequently since.

its quite a bit less than $50k. (its 14,500) and dont have it yet, but it will be here in a few weeks
  19. Ichabod
Dave, be sure to provide a detailed write-up, pictures, and new sense of smugness when you get your Zenn! :D Seriously though, I think we'd all love to know about your experience with it when you get it.
