We picked up our new Red Prius last week in San Luis Obispo. We had been on the wait list since early June and expected a 2008. What arrived was a nice 2009 ! Cost was $300 more - I suppose having a newer year somewhat makes up for that.
    Just heard about PriusChat.
We took out Prius into the dealer today for add-on grey leather.
We're really happy with the it!

Glad to hear that you got the car. Did the 2009 have a price increase over what you agreed on when you ordered? Or did the dealership just tack on 300 bucks?

The dealer told us when we arrived to pick up the car that it was unexpectently a 2009, not a 2008. In fact, we were the 2nd 2009 they had. He said they had no control. He told me that Toyota was charging the dealer $300 more (but who really knows where the $300 came from). Of course, my alternative was always to decline to take the car and move on, but we'd been waiting since June, so I took it. I'm not that fond of car dealers so I guess I'm never surprised when some price increase comes out somewhere. They do have limited supply and lots of demand right now - they can just say - we'll take the next on the wait list if you don't want it.

That's quite a wait! But glad you're happy with it, now that it's finally here. Having a 2009 instead of a 2008 will probably be worth $300 in a few years in resale value, if you decide to sell it.

Welcome to the PC "family". $300 more for the 09 seems pretty fair considering Toyota was advertising a $500 increase over the 08 prices. Enjoy the ride!
