Hi my name is Eric and I'm new to priuschat. I'm looking for a 2008 base touring model. Is it possible to get a regular touring model without additional packages? the Toyota website states touring starts at $23,370, but all the touring models I see come with package #6.
From what I understand in CA you can only get the touring in package 6. At least this was what I was told by several dealers.
base/touring, giant/shrimp, bush/good president...get the hint altho there are touring models available in other than package 6, you will be hard pressed at this late in the model year to find much...i got into the mkt at this time last year and wound up waiting til nov 07 to finally get what i wanted, but it was an 08
not what i said, in fact if you read my avatar, i have in deed a package 6, but, toyota makes touring in several packages
Hi Eric, Welcome to PriusChat. From what I've read reported here for the past year, you can only get the Touring in California with Pkg #6. Outside California, you might be able to find a Touring with Pkg #2 which retails for only $575, and is well worth it IMO because it gets you the Back-up Camera, Vehicle Stability Control, Smart Key System, and AUX audio jack for iPods and other portable audio players. Note that if you go outside California for your Prius -- unless you buy it from a "CARB" state which I believe are all located on the East Coast -- the Hybrid Battery warranty will be 96 months/100,000 miles (it's 120 months/150,000 miles in California and the CARB states). Boo, Thanks for that info. It's a little confusing w/all these packages they add from the factory. I'm definately not driving to NY to buy a prius. I think I'm just going to get a standard one.
