A similar on-line forum was key to the life expectancy of my 250,000+ mile Toyota Previa, fondly remembered as "To the Moon, Alice".

At age 55, and with all my kids grown, I can FINALLY stop driving Minivans, thank God. A dear friend is leaving in a couple weeks and I am buying her 2008 Prius w/ 31,000 miles. Just drove it today, can't stop grinning. She and her husband are SCUBA instructors, boat owners, built their own home, etc. Extremely OCD about maintenance of anything. All of my (I suppose I should buy it before I start calling it mine, but hey . . .) new cars services have been at the dealer, and are fully documented.

    Two questions;

    1) Is there anything I need to do to transfer the remaining warranty to myself?

    2) They have used dino oil -- any thoughts on conversion to synthetic at this point?

    3) I noticed someone mentioned "Thou shalt spell-check" but I don't see a button for one. Am I missing it, or is just not there?

    I would respectfully add

"You are NOT texting, and you are presumably NOT 12 years old. Appropriate capitalization and punctuation will make your post far more readable."

(This last is a pet peeve of mine across the length and breadth of the internet).

Having read the Newby pages, I'll refrain from asking what I should replace the worn out OEM tires with .

Glad to meet you, will probably be a regular while I learn about new little high-tech toy!

    Welcome Kelly!
On 1, usually there is a transfer registration card involved. Sometimes in the back of the owner's manual. If not, try Toyota.com
    2. You can always switch over. The engine will benefit.
    3. Your browser needs to support the checker like Firefox has it built in. IE you need to download a plug in.
    Have a great day!

    Moved from another thread:

I got out to Guam in the mid-70s. At the time they claimed to have the
world's largest Mickey-Ds. There were a hundred bazillion softball sized
brown toads hopping about. On some roadways there was a thick layer
of squashed toads and hundreds more moving around. Folks just
plowed right on through... Ultimate Frogger.
    Very disconcerting to drive through/over...
it was the frequent crunching sounds under the wheels. Yuk!
Don't know how that will affect MPGs.

15k miles per year on an island! Do you get dizzy or do you alternate
    clockwise/counterclockwise on even/odd numbered days? :p

As to prospective fuel economy, it would seem that you are in a near
perfect environment for 50+ MPGs regularly; flattish terrain, warmish
buy not really hot temps -- gotta love those onshore breezes -- and
no really cold weather. It might come down to traffic volume,
stoplights, Posted Speed Limits and your driving style of course.

It may sound strange, but using a block heater would boost MPGs on
short trips of less than 5 miles.

Lastly, how much does gas currently cost on Guam. Here in Ballamer
    we're seeing ~$2.60.
