A friend of mine is looking at new cars, and I'm trying to find out what incentives are actually available in NJ for hybrids. I found some listed, but I couldn't tell if the info was up to date. Such as if the program went into effect or is lingering commitee. There was one for combined 35mpg vehicles being exempt from sales tax, but was that written before or after the EPA change?

They are going to take a look at the Escape. The Camry Hybrid is currently out of their price range. It is going to be the wife's car, and she doesn't like the Prius (already driven one for a week).

Any other high milage cars I should recommend?

I don't believe there are any state tax incentives. Manufacturers other than Toyota will have federal tax credits on their hybrids.
