Hi everyone. I just joined PriusChat after test driving a 2009 package#2 yesterday. I got two quotes. The first for 23200 and the second for 23100 (all expenses). The car price for the better quote was 21249. Question: Do you think I should take the deal now before the March 2 (Mon) expiration of the $750 Toyota rebate or wait for a better rebate? Any thoughts about the quote? My info says invoice for 2009 package#2 is 21916, so I think the quote is about the invoice price, not including the Toyota rebate. Any opinions would be appreciated. Read www.carbuyingtips.com and get the numbers itemized so you know what you are paying for the car, what you are paying in BS fees, and what you are paying in state fees and taxes. Know the amounts of the fees & taxes. IMO NJ dealers misrepresent the state's title & registration fees routinely. Be wary of preprinted amounts on the contract. For example registration is $46.50 but they may have $75.00 printed on the contract.
Unless you really need the car right away, you might want to think about a 2010 Model. I was at the L.A. Showing today and I was impressed. The only thing was they were not talking was prices. If you can hold off until the release, and figure out that you do not want a 2010, the 2009's will still be around and even less expensive! Think about it! Other that that , Yeah that's a good price. I saw a Pkg 5 in North Hollywood with a sticker of 26,400.00. After incentives and rebates! Nice Deal!!
The lowest pack2 teaser price I've seen in the paper is $20,888 sticker, the '1 at this price' type of ad. So, the $21,xxx is low. Over $3k off the sticker from just last summer. What's a couple hundred anyway. Bigger issue is - will you keep the car for most of its life?
Thanks for the replies. I do plan to keep the car for most of its life and I don't need it right away. The problem is after the test drive, I want it now. I'm pretty certain that waiting will get me a better price, although the selection of colors will be fewer. My decision is to wait at least until Tuesday to see what Toyota does with their incentives.
It is good that you don't need the car right away. You can always get the best price if have time to research and shop. IMHO, Toyota will maintain or even raise the incentives because sale have been so slow. My old car was dying, so after a couple of months looking at 2009s and thinking about a 2010, I jumped on the $750 dealer incentive and got an '09 pkg 2 that I am very happy with.
