I picked up "Graylord" yesterday. On the way home, I was playing with the radio a bit but I didn't see the CD changer. In the evening my BF was checking out the car and he asked me where the CD player was, to which I replied "I DON'T KNOW! .... I cannot figure it out."

We both decided it must be behind the nav screen but had no idea how to get to it. So we spent the next 10 or so minutes trying to work it out. The owner's manual referred me to page 303 for CD operation but the picture they showed was without the nav, and there were no buttons in my car that looked like the diagram. So I looked in the nav quick reference and there was no information there. Finally, I found the instructions in the navigation owner's manual. The picture was not very clear as it just pointed at the general location of the button but doesn't say how it's labeled. After a few more moments, we finally figured out it was the button labeled "Close." Close?!

Is it just us who are this slow or has anybody else had a problem finding the CD changer?

 Yuk, yuk. That is funny. Our salesman did a quick demo of the car when we purchased it and opened the CD player to show us how to put CDs in and take them out. I never thought about it, but if he hadn't shown us, I don't think I would have guessed that the CLOSE button is the button you use to open it.

    Glad you got your car!

To tie me over until our car gets here, I have been watching all of the NAV instruction videos on itunes. I'll have to watch the CD one again s this doesn't happen to me. LOL!

It was the very first thing the salesperson demonstrated to us as we stepped in the car for a test drive. Apparently a big thing to show off to prospective customers.

I don't think my salesman knew very much about the car, but at least he didn't try to pretend he did and make up all sorts of nonsense. I didn't think of asking him him where the CD changer was, since I never thought it would be that hard to find!

Thanks. Now you'll have no excuse! :p

By the way, the car comes with an instructional DVD too, but it didn't say anything about how to find the CD changer!

Obviously you aren't a Microsoft person. Anyone familiar with Windows would find "Close" as the obvious button for opening the CD drive, just as on Windows XP you click "Start" to shut down the system. ;)

P.S.: One of these days we should take the user interface guys out back and beat the sh*t out of them. They are mostly a bunch of wankers.

I took delivery (yea!) yesterday evening, and had this same experience -- with the exception that the navigation screen will not open for me. I go through the steps in the Nav manual, but when I press "Load" on the Nav screen for the screen assembly to open so that I access the CD changer, it doesn't open. It acts like it's trying to open (the bottom of the screen assembly sort of pokes out, momentarily), but it fails to do so. Could it have been locked down in some way for transport? Has anyone else had this experience? I tried calling the dealer this morning -- left a message for my sales guy, but no call back yet (hopefully, they're scrambling and trying to research a solution).

Yes!, my wife thought that we had not received the proper Nav unit and when I told her it was OK, she bet me that she was right as there was obviously no slot for the Dvd's. Having read the owners manual and the Nav. system manual cover to cover I went to page 161 in the Nav manual , followed directions, and was careful not to gloat as I am too old to sleep on a lumpy couch.

The button actually says open/close, it's just that open is the standard eject icon and close is a word.

Update: Technician is coming to my home at 0730 tomorrow morning to check things out. Hope he can fix it on site, and that they don't have to replace the whole Nav/CD changer module....

Yeah, but Eject does not equal Open! I didn't want to eject - I had nothing to eject - I wanted to insert! :D

I brought the soundtrack to "Doctor Horrible's Sing Along Blog" to play on the way home from picking up my car, now dubbed "Jumper 1". I am guessing that it was designed by 1 button fruit users. The CD thing gave me pause for a bit until I figured that the closest thing to load was the button marked close. It makes sense in a PC user trying to understand the thinking of 1 button fruit users.
