    Hi all,
We're so excited! We are from Central Illinois and finally decided to go ahead and place our order. We've been researching the Prius for several months (including the Priuschat) and couldn't see any downside to purchasing one of our own. We commute approximately 80 miles per day to go to work and HATE the high price of gas!!! All of our research points to the Prius as being the best car for us. The funny thing is that my husband is a certified technician for GM. We checked into the Malibu, but it just didn't measure up. (Sorry GM) We have an 01 Venture Van and a 97 Chevy truck so this will be totally new on the gas mileage. Our venture Van wasn't too bad, about 24-25 MPG, but we just really knew we could do better. Anyway, Thanks to all who posted what they really loved about the car, we were able to make an educated decision. We ordered a package 5 in Spectra Blue Mica. We even got a little bitty discount which we were told no dealers were doing. We probably wouldn't have been able to swing it without all the great advice we got on Priuschat. Thanks again!!!

    Thanks Sandman.
Wow! Only two weeks? We were told due to allocations that we might have to wait 2 to 3 months. It's really going to be a long wait. We Really wanted the Spectra blue and NOBODY has it. So we figured that since we were spending so much on a car, we'd rather wait and get what we really wanted. Meantime, we'll post here and watch everyone else enjoying their Prius!!!

You might want to check all of the dealers around you for that package. If it turns up, see if your dealer can trade for it.

    Hi Godiva!
Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, since gas has skyrocketed here, the Prius is becoming almost impossible to find. We were hard pressed to find one on a lot anywhere around here. Most of the dealers already have their ones in transit sold. I will mention it to our salesman, but I imagine he will probably laugh at us!! :)

    Cue up "Old Codger" voice!

"Well, Prius young-uns. Don't get so darned fired up over having to wait a few weeks for your car to get to yah. Back in my day, which was during the great Prius drought of '05, me and the Missus had to wait 11 and 1/2 months for our Prius. You read that right - almost a year and that's the God's honest truth. Now I'm not a sayin we weren't near tuckered out by that long spell of waitin and longin, but when that blessed day arrived and our Prius finally drove us back to the ol' homestead, well, you could have heard our hollerin and celebrating clear cross the county."

"So, take it from me, one of those old-timers that suffered through the great Prius drought of '05. We made it and you will, too. Even if you have to hold off a month or two, you'll survive. Heck, having to wait a spell is good for yeh! Remember, some of us made it through a lot worse times and we are still just as happy as yore gonna be."

    "Well, that's it Prius young-uns. Don't fret. Your day's a commin!"

"Kids these days just want everything yesterdee. Now, get back to your chores. You done already spent too much time on this ding dang contraption."

Boy that's discouraging. I have a Spectra blue mica on order too. I haven't even been told how long it will be to get it yet. The dealer said they should be able to tell me on the 16th how long it might take. I'm getting excited and more impatient all the time reading all the stuff here about how everyone loves their cars! Can't wait to get mine! I'm in North Dakota.

Congrats...your order should be on its way soon. :)

Once you get used to having 45 to 50 mpg on the Prius, nobody will be driving your Chevy vehicles anymore. :D Maybe you can just ride them on a weekend trip with the family....but you still have to think about ..."should we just take the Prius?"

I had to wait 7 weeks for my Spectra Blue Mica #5. The dealer initially estimated "about 6 weeks" when I put down the deposit, and had two months max on the purchase order (the point at which it expires, and I could have canceled if they hadn't delivered by then). After a few weeks, they were able to tell me the exact week it was supposed to come in, but not which day. It did arrive on Monday of the week they said.

    It's worth the wait!

Nah, he won't laugh. He'd love to sell you a car sooner. Remember, they have to wait too...for their money! But don't hold your breath. Lots of people here have reported having trouble finding that color, so if you want a particular package, well...

My salesman called me the day after I ordered and told me that the had just gotten in a package 6. I stood firm and waited for the 5.

I ordered my 2008 Barcelona Red Prius with Option package #3 a week ago. Dealer told me 10 to 14 days but I'm not so sure he was telling the truth. He has called once and told me they haven't found one yet. I guess I sit and wait.

Is the wait usually a month or so for a 2008?

Depends on what you want and where you live.

Right now the dealer I bought mine from has 11 Prii in stock (according to their website). Varying option packages and colors, but no Touring. No red, either. About half are silver.

Last year at this time there were more in stock. But then gas prices were lower then...

We hope you get yours soon, too! But at least your dealer did call. You'll have to post when you do get yours and let us know!! Although, our dealer DID tell us 2 to 3 months, I'm still remaining hopeful that he finds one (or orders ours) much sooner. I saw someone driving a Prius today and I was sooooo envious!!

Hey, thanks for the info! We did know about the IL rebate and checked to make sure our Credit Union was participating when we went and got pre-approved for our loan. They were! We only had one dealer tell us about the greenrewards rebate however. We visited several and you'd think that they would consider that a selling point, but only one salesman mentioned it!

How long have you had yours? Our dealer did tell us he'd call when it was issued a VIN number. I guess then we can start counting down the days. He said that may take about 4 weeks after they order it.

Wow!?, I went to 2 dealerships this weekend and each one had about 15-20 on the lot. I picked up the last Magnetic Grey #5 on the lot, and I am loving it.
