    OK. See them now.
Here's a screenshot of what they will look like on the unit.
    Pretty neat!

And also attached is your brand new Clayfree's Metal Frames .rrui file...
For you to try at your own risk; I haven't tested it on my unit yet.

I took clayfree's icons and photoshop'd this home screen.

Would this mockup work? Do you think is it possible to change the analog clock to digital?

Great work Bulle! I loaded it for my drive to work. Now that it's loaded I can do a little reverse engineering and make some adjustments . I will reduce the sizes about 25-30% and they will fit nicely with the type below. I'll post some new graphics later today.

OK, done. These should fix the sizing issues.

    He he, nice.
For the background, no problem. You can even do this now just by changing the wallpaper on the Skins screen.

Changing the analog clock for a digital one though is not possible right now.
The best we can do is to change the look of the round clock.
    Sorry.

Looks great! Such an improvement over the first icons. I like the title screen you made when selecting the skin!

Thanks for the additional graphics. I can change the lower bar opacity and it will look like dehhh's comp.

Bulle I'm game to make more graphics if you don't mind changing them out and doing the builds. I think we can really improve the interface. Here's some things I would like to take a look at:

The 9 icons on the apps screen
The default art on the music screen
Can you change the boot screen for Ottonavi?
The radio screen is a mess but that's a lot of text specs and spacing :(

Also: If you have the ability to move elements & type around I could work up some homescreen options to look at. For example one might look like dehhh's comp the now playing displayed in the center under the clock.

What would you like to change?

Oh everything! I would change everything.
    And I'm game too.
But I agree we can start little by little.
We don't need to change everything at once.
Like you said; let's do the the 9 icons first.
(actually there are 12, you'll see, but 3 are not usable yet)
Then later may be the iPod screen and the Bluetooth screen if you feel like it.
I would love to get your metal frame look everywhere on every little widget.
IMO it's not that bad because many are symetrical.
But it's a lot of work for sure; you decide.

    DEFAULT ART
    Default art would be cool.
Although, in my case I prefer to display the artist picture like this (in case you haven't noticed):
    http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...ow-show-artist-picture-when-playing-mp3s.html

    BOOT SCREEN
Yes, the boot screen: very easy.
    See my thread here:
    http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...ottonavi-hu-how-change-your-startup-logo.html

I'm sending you all the original widgets via PM for you to take a look.
At least this way, you'll have a feel of it.
    Let me know.

Can you guys change the time underneath the analog clock to a different number style? The current time style looks ugly and does not fit any of the font style in the unit.

Totally agree Dehhh, that font really bugs me. It's also redundant to have an analog clock sitting on top of a digital clock

I was thinking of working on a home layout that featured "now playing" more prominently and possibly show the artist/album art. That all depends on what Bulle thinks can be done.

I agree with both of you!
    Silly clock.
And Dehhh, you have a good sense of observation too!
Because the time field is the only text element that has its own font texture.
All the other ones use the system fonts (which I don't know how to change).

    FOR THE NOW PLAYING
Well making it bigger will probably work.
But sorry, impossible for now to display at run-time the Artist picture as on the MP3 screen.
But we could put a static background picture in each field though.

    FOR THE DIGITAL CLOCK
Here's the texture that would need to be changed (Clayfree has it already):
I don't have the specs though; I'm assuming 36x72 for each number.
The colon (and dot?) have different widths I guess.
So will the software display the new font correctly?
I don't know; if it relies on the new texture width then may be.
That actually brings back to life your idea of a digital clock.
We can make the time look digital easily I think.
We can also make the clock dissapear but I don't know how to get rid of the needles yet...
Ah well, we can start by simply changing the texture and see how it goes.
Just to give you an idea of how the home screen is crowded right now:
Fields contain element number and set of colors for the font.

This is very helpful! I can change out the clock font. I can also look at some very small icons for artist info, etc. I need a little time to build a layered screen, that will help me get all the elements just right.

Bulle, are the clock hands textures? If so we could always use the hack of loading a clear png:)

    Nope; couldn't locate them.
They look like drawn from the software unfortunately.
May be I can hack the thing, but that would require some serious extra time I'm afraid.

Don't count on it for now.

Bulle can you verify the information in the fields:

    4 - file type, current/total(MP3 5/60)
    11 - #, title (02 You Don't Know How It Feels)
    12 - ?
    13 - ?

    2 - month, date, year (February 21, 2012
3 - day of week (Tuesday)
    15 - ?
    16 - ?

    I'm building a screen now
    Thanks!

Well you have reached the limits of the known universe.
I don't know what they are.

This unit is capable of displaying other things obviously.
I will look into it but I'm not sure I can find out by looking only at the files...

I'll look at mine tonight ... I was trying to set up an accurate template.

I had an idea while working on this. What if we revised the home screen to be generic for lack of a better term. In other words new icons, ditch the analog clock and use clean type in white(or light grey) for all the information. Then the entire look can be changed with just the wallpaper which could be designed around the information. Here are 3 examples and the only difference is the wallpaper.

I was able to create 3 distinct looks in about 30 minutes. Using this method we could accomodate many more styles easily and everyone could load wallpapers when they want a change. Even the shaded bar at the bottom could be built into the wallpaper. Of course the underlying screens would remain the blue.

    Yep. Very nice!
I just need to find a way to get rid of those needles...

I like the one in the middle; metal grid look + a slick Totoya logo.
And why not make it a Toyota clock since we are stuck with the needles for now.

+1 for the middle one. that is sweet!. I've been hesitant to buy one of these import oem style units cause a couple reasons and one was the crappy looking display. just changing the color to blue was nice but now you guys are making magic happen and it's cool.

OK, here's another approach. If we're stuck with the clock hands then let's design around them. I could give you a blank png for the digital clock numbers and it would go away. Then we're left with buttons, analog clock and the dynamic info on each side. Here are a couple if ideas for how that could look:

    EDIT: one more :)

    Man, you're prolific!

OK. I like #1 for the night and #3 for the day.
Not sure how that will look in plain sun but that's something we also need to figure out.

I better check how many skins we can stick in total!!!
