My BP Prius is under 3500 miles for two months. I don't realize until this morning that paint is scratched like "cat nail whew". I'm the only driver with no long nails and never had that problem with other cars it at less 10 years older car.
My GF wears mulitple giant rocks worth 100's of thousands of dollars that I got her. Standard nail length. She drives it more than I do by far. Haven't seen the problem. Aliens?
yep, we have it too. same with all 3 cars. its my fingernails that do it. the scratches are surface only and can be easily rubbed out. i did it once on the 06, but it was more work than it was worth. even with trying to be careful, it was scratched up within a month
yep, a cleaned, sealed and waxed surface will make this problem go away and be easier to control in the future.
As part of my clear bra package, the same material was applied under the door handles. No scratches. Griot's Garage sells a clear plastic protection film that could be used for this purpose.
Fancy new auto clear plastic stuff, yesssssssssssssss I'm just about to do a little experiment with that stuff in the area where the metal of the seat belt retracts and hits the enterior trim A bit worried about the texture of the trim and visibility/adhesiveness good one
Mine are visible (on a dark blue car) if you look into the door handle space, otherwise inconspicuous. It's the same film as on the hood, smooth with no texture. I don't know how the film was installed into the curved cavity behind the door handles. It's stuck on very well.
I have the same thing on my non-Prius vehicle. I could never figure it out either since it's a place where you don't think your finger nails touch, but it's apparent that they do, because what else could it be? I've never waxed that car once (and hardly wash it either) so that makes sense.
It happens on a lot of cars and I have seen it on even new cars straight from the dealership delivered to me
My car is 1 and half year old with 44K miles and i neither wear a ring nor my Girl friend and i have scratch marks just like these.... its awful....
It happens on all cars that have a cup. Most cars have a lever with a blind cup that you reach up under so less contact with your nails. Prius top lever your basically jamming the tip of your hand at the door every time you open it. And certain colors make it more noticeable. If you want to mitigate the scratches open the door with your hand going under the lever.
