Is it just me? Changing pages lately on PC is almost physically painful on my 6 Mbps DSL line. I can go get a snack between thread pages. I know that the search function can really bog Vb down. Not sure if that is the case here, but it is becoming difficult to get around the site these days. I can't imagine being on dialup!

    So... is it just me?

It does seem slower than when it was the first day on the new server but not as slow as what you describe.

I see occasional hiccups, but for the most part it seems about as fast as it's ever been. I'm on 15 Mbps cable, though.

So I just hit the reply button, and it took 17 seconds for the "reply to thread" window to appear. Of the 10 or so sites I visit regularly, this currently by far the slowest. I may have overstated the "get a snack" part, but it is definitely the slowest one that I use. Wasn't like that a month or two back.

**added: took the same amount of time to "save" as well. Much quicker when I hit edit to add this however.

    No, it is painstakingly slow.

Thanks for the confirmation. I seem to have 10-12 second latency to switch pages, on average. Sometimes way longer.

I have found it to be very slow especially over the past few days. It hasn't kept me away from here though....

Darell, is your SOC low? Perhaps that's causing your computer to run a little slower. My gas-electric-powered computer is humming right along. :D

FWIW it took maybe 5 seconds after hitting reply to get the box to type the reply.

I'll second the OP. The past two days have been getting slower.
Not back to the worst of the bad old days, but far from the best
we enjoyed immediately after the switch to the new server.

I'll third the OP, it does seem slower these past few days. Oddly, I notice that the site is slowest around midnight - sometimes becoming effectively unresponsive (yes, I _really_ should cut back on my late night priuschatting. Anywho....)

The site is going to be slower after midnight on the west coast - that's when all of the server's batch processes start (around 4am Eastern). But during the day there shouldn't be any slowdowns. At least none that I've noticed.

I will add that if you're looking to speed up your connection and loosen the constraints put on you by your ISP, try out OpenDNS - OpenDNS | Providing A Safer And Faster Internet.

I've noticed that almost all websites respond faster for me now and the "throttling" that RoadRunner has in place doesn't effect me at 5pm like it used to.

Our computers at home have wireless access to the internet. I had the same problem and called my cable provider. They suggested I unplug my cable modem and the wireless router. Then reset the cable modem. Once the lights return to the modem I plugged back into the electrical outlets both the modem and the router.

Still no slow downs here on eastern side of the country.

Maybe I should move to Tom's upper pennisula.
Only on PriusChat I get frequent spurts of page cannot be displayed, posts not posting and slow response from threads. If I immediately head to google or somewhere else, no problem.

Let just say OpenDNS is not a speedup service and can only speed up your connection when your ISP DNS servers are not responding or are responding slowly. Once your initial DNS resolve is made (when you first attempt to access PriusChat), the IP address is cached for a certain time, so your computer does not need the DNS service until next time.

I used OpenDNS last year but it had serious performance issues, perhaps all that is now water under the bridge?

Most USA based ISP have acceptable working DNS servers but like everything, sometimes there are problems.

Doh! Maybe it is the smoke from all our lightning fires obscuring my solar panels. Hmmm.

Checking out OPEN DNS. However... like I said in the OP, PC is the only site that's slow for me.

The main reason I changed to OpenDNS was because of the new "Hey, let's bombard you with a ton of ads (including pop-ups) when you type in a website name wrong!" policy by Earthlink. I've now switched to RoadRunner, but found their DNS propagation to be too slow.

I'm not sure why you're experiencing the problems you are, Darell. The site is very speedy for me right now.

I run my own DNS server, so lookups are usually pretty fast on my network.
