    Hello Everyone

First post here on PriusChat, I'm Jeff, the proud Canadian owner of a 2012 Prius C (base model). Just wanted to post some pics of the Pioneer AVIC-Z140BH we installed yesterday. This is a double DIN sized navigation/multimedia system that simply rocks in the features department!

No dash kit exists yet (been told Schosche and Metra are working on it) but all other parts are available, I have listed them below for everyone's reference. First some pics:

    [IMG][IMG]

All factory locations have been kept for things like the USB/Aux jacks, and the factory mic location has been used also. Steering wheel controls are also all preserved.

    Parts used were:

    Pioneer AVIC-Z140BH (headunit)
    Metra 70-1761 (wire harness)
Axxess ASWC (steering wheel control module)
    Metra 40-LX11 (antenna adaptor)
Metra 99-9999 universal double din trim panel (customised to fit behind OEM trim).

The kit isn't perfect, but it actually doesn't look bad. It will be interesting to see what the dash kit will look like when it is finally released.

I own an automotive electronics shop in Scarborough Ontario, Canada so this is what we do on a regular basis, just wanted to share the results with everyone and list the required parts to make it easier for anyone to find. If anyone needs any electronics parts for your car, let us know as we can help!

Future mods include Compustar's DRONE2 system, some rims, H.I.D.s and some custom L.E.D. work on the front of the vehicle, will post pics of all mods as they come.

Hi Jeff, I like that Pioneer, questions for you:
    1. Do it support por backup camera?
    2. Who made the dash cover?
    3. Does the Voice Recognition works with the pioneer? (according to Pioneer Specs)
    4. Can you add more photos or video showing full capability

    Thanks.

    Hey Rolopr

    Answers to your questions below:

    1. Yes backup cameras are supported. I do not have one installed though.
    2. Metra makes the plastic piece (99-9999) but it comes as a 12 x 12 plastic piece which needs to be modified to fit (cut and ground down) he Prius C.
    3. Voice recognition works flawlessly, it has a button on the headunit that controls this feature
    4. More photos will added soon, just gotta take them :)

I like that its so clean and uncluttered looking. On day one of buying my C I wanted alloy wheels or seat covers (protection, not to improve looks) and then after listening to music on my commute to work I realized this car is gonna cost me more than I thought haha. I definitely have to improve the audio, it's barely even a choice for me at this point. Thanks for detailing all the parts you had to buy!

The voice recognition is built in, uses the microphone the unit comes with to pick up voice commands

I asked it cause I have a PC3 That have the spot for the voice recognition button, I have the mic already. As I wonder that the VR is pre-wired so I can buy the VR switch and just plug n play.

Did you have to modify the USB/aux input area? Aren't they proprietary connectors for Toyota vs standard inputs for pioneer?

Were you able to retain the bluetooth answer/hang up with the Axxess ASWC (steering wheel control module)?

    Hey Everyone

Sorry for the late reply, been super busy at the shop.

To use the factory USB/AUX port we had to remove the OEM USB and AUX connectors from the rear of the USB port panel (the assembly pops out from its mount above the glove box), and then fit the Pioneer USB and Aux cable on the back side of it. So the port looks OEM but in reality is using the Pioneer connections.

As for the bluetooth mic, I still haven't completed integrating the OEM mic (I just haven't had the time) but it is possible to do. The OEM mic is a 4 wire mic, the aftermarket Pioneer mic is a 2 wire. The extra 2 wires on the OEM mic are for power and ground, as the OEM mic has pre-amp circuitry built into it (hence why it works so good).

When I complete this I will post an update. Check out our next few threads, just added an air horn, H.I.D.s and some LED bulbs to the car as well :)

So, I am a little confused. The controls on the right side of the steering wheel, basic prius functions like trip/scrolling function, are standard and come with the regular harness. Does that harness also handle the temperature controls too? And then, since I have a C3, I'll need a PAC SWI-PS for the left side controls, which go to a completely different connector; right?

I bought all the parts listed at the beginning of this thread. I'm able to get the radio working, however, having 2 issues:
    1. Got this error "System restart due to tuner error. If error persists, please contact the service center" .
    2. Axxess ASWC is not recognize by the steering wheel, I've tried connect Green/Orange wire to pin 21, and Black/Green to pin 22.
If anyone have the picture of the wiring set up for the antena (do we use the blue/white wire of the HU? page 11 of the installation manual, and should I connect it to the blue wire of the Metra 40-LX11?), and the Axxess ASWC, please help. Thanks.
